because that would be stupid to trade for a backup up qb whos going to be a FA next year anyways
we should trade mays and a 3rd or 4th for asante and adres CB in next years draft
remember guys.. carlos rogers signed a 1 year deal anyways and it doesnt hurt if we sign rogers to a long term contract next year and get cb and have asante
asante=playmaker
carlos= cover cb

I would try something like what we got from Redskins for Brandon Lloyd, like a third in next years draft and a fourth in the following draft. Maybe two thirds, that seems like a lot but this guy is still a tremendous playmaker, so I'd consider that offer.

...! Why trade a guy that is only three years in the league and could still translate into our biggest receiver threat since Terell Owens. We don't know what Harbaugh can get out of this guy and we never will if we traded him away for a guy that may have three solid seasons left in him at best.

I think the Eagles may end up keeping him. He's a playmaker and his salary isn't too crazy this around (around $5M). I hope I'm wrong but I don't see us getting him.
I think it would take a 2nd round pick. Who knows if they would have any interest in Mays, hopefully they do and we could package a 3rd/6th and Mays for Samuel.
Anybody on here saying he doesn't fit or we shouldn't get him is crazy. Asante Samuel is a GREAT CB in this league and will be for a few more years.

I agree. I believe it is ridiculous that some people are saying that they wouldn't want him here. Seriously? A guy that can almost guarantee you 5-8 INT's in a regular season? He is a cover guy...and not a physical CB...so what? This is why you have 2 safety's. I REALLY hope a miracle happens and the Niners are able to trade for him. I don't want them to give up too much...but he's a great corner and he is locked up for another 2-3 years I think.

dude's a game changing playmaker. Eagles wouldn't settle for anything less than a 2nd.

LOL WUT?
Just because he's not the best lockdown type of CB doesn't mean that 7-8 ints aren't GAME CHANGING plays. The team that wins the turnover battles most often wins the game.
It seems like carlos rogers is pretty much the opposite of him- a guy who rarely makes plays but does a good job not letting his reciever catch the ball. If you had both of them you could use rogers to lock down a guy(perhaps w/help from the safety), then have asante try to make plays picking off their #2/weaker guys.
The problem is we aren't about to trade a key part of our offense to do this. I believe it's important that we keep both crabtree AND edwards. Trading picks also wouldn't go along with our "plan" of building through the draft.

I bet they wouldn't go lower than a 3.
I heard on ESPN the Eagles wouldnt deal him unless they got an offer that "knocked their socks off" .....hopefully a 3rd would get the job done
They wanted a kings ransom for Kolb too. They would take a 2nd and be happy with it.

Asante Samuel is on trade block, Aqib Talib meets today with Goodell, Terrell Thomas is out for year, Brent Grimes is a UFA after season.

RT @KevtheCloser: What's a possible trade for Asante Samuel? ... Don't see Eagles entertaining offers of anything less than a 1 or 2 2's.
Too rich for my blood.

wow he's been on the Eagles for 3 years already? I would have entertained a couple 2nd rounders maybe a month ago, but from what I'm hearing Rpgers continues to play well & Whitner is making an Impact.. so maybe a 2nd and a conditional 2012 pick

offer them a 2nd, I bet they take it !!!
Samuel would make our defense much tougher to pass against and the pass rush would improve with him in the secondary, I hope Baalke can make it happen

A third and the pick we got for mays sounds reasonable
