Mehh I got something worse than the NFL

Yeah those waves could kill someone.

With American Levees?

This is exactly the kind of of comment I would expect from a quitter!!
The old " Blame the Fame" Gambit.
Glenn Coffee ruins lives, says NFL.

Glenn says Coffee ruins NFL lives.

A little bit of word play there, either of those are more believable titles.

“People just keep asking me that, and it’s like, ‘OK, why are you asking me that?’ And their No. 1 reason – their only reason – is money,” Coffee said. “It saddens me, man. If your only focus is money, you’re going to be sorely disappointed. A lot of people, they chase money. And when they get the money, they think, ‘OK, what now? There’s got to be more than what I’m feeling now.’”

Coffee is currently working on getting his degree from Alabama and is considering a career in ministry.

“I want to love what I do,” Coffee said. “I don’t just want to get paid.”
Gotta respect that. Unfortunately, there's a lot of people in this world who will never understand the bold.

He is playing football again so he likes to do that. He can play with the 49ers for free if he wants, i'm sure its not against the rules. Play for a cheeseburger or donate all your money to charity...

Don't fall for his justifications of his bad decision. If he doesn't like money, he can play for free or donate his millions. I bet he is still sitting on all that cash from the rookie contract.

That could even be taken as selfish, With the money he was paid he could of helped many families and build/Fund more churches!

Something that a regular church person can't do

this guys is full of excuses
it does
The NFL gives people like Glenn Coffee a chance to get away from nutty cults, guns, and the streets, while compensating them decently.
I didn't like the pick and thought it was a waste. However, playing devil's advocate, I do understand where he is coming from to a degree.

I have seen people do things that were expected of them and were never really happy. People have taken jobs or majored in something cause their parents kind of nudged them to be a doctor, lawyer, account...etc. and they do it for several years and they then realize it is not for them. So they quit and they do something else.

We all heard players and people say the NFL stands for the No Fun League. Many play for the love of the game, but it has become such a huge business, that for some it is no longer a game.

As for the NFL ruins lives, technically he does have a point. You folks may want to whip the messenger and not sure if this is what he is thinking, but things like your health-shorter life than other pro sports, joint problems that many of us can't imagine and a younger age than the average (some have problems picking up their kids), the pressure/stress (some of you may say of course there is and how can he not realize it, but remember they are only kids when they enter the NFL and up to then it was still only a game and a fantasy to the next great whatever...), money-look at how many that are successful end up whack on crack like Lawrence Taylor, guy said he would have 5 grand in his pockect and didnot' know what to do with it so since he had all that money he decided to do drugs for recreational purposes (not invest for the future or do something for his hood to help kids or support a talented poor individual reach their potential in scholastics), etc.

If you think that players don't play it for the money-you are kidding yourself, or else we wouldn't have this CBA impasse.

Just saying....

What does spending money have to do with this quitter?

I'm saying Coffee is saying how the NFL ruins lives, and it can.. when guys get the money and blow it all then end up with nothing

That isn't the NFL ruining lives, that is the players' own immaturity and irresponsibility.

I agree. Has Coffee given up the money he received from the NFL to some charity organization. If he has I completely feel he has a right to state his thoughts on the NFL. Now if he is using that money for his own personal gains than he has no right to bash the hand that fed him.
