We could of had Tom Brady...

Patriots could've had Tim Rattay...but choice Brady because he was taller. What could've been for both players.

Rodgers was there for the taking....it was a match made in heaven...it was meant to be....he said he would take less money than Alex. Sigh, I'll never get over it.

But there was no one who thought Rodgers was worth the #1 pick.

doesn't matter. We had the #1 pick...and if we were going to choose a QB with that #1 pick, then we should've done our research.... I really don't know how they f**ked that one up.....it was pretty obvious Rodgers was the better of the two. Again, doesn't matter what the other teams did. Most of them were already set at QB, and couldn't take a chance to invest money into a Rookie QB.

AND WHAT A f**kIN PLAY BY RODGERS!!!!
Rodgers.... ughhhhhhhhhhhh so goooooood

last words on this: Rodgers is the better QB now but Alex was thought to be the better QB coming out of college.

From my understanding

Alex was thought to have the higher ceiling of the two and therefore was the 1st pick. Not that he was better out of college

I rad a very intersting qutoe from McCarthy,
when he was asked if he now thinks he should have pledged for Rogers and not Smith, he replyed that Rodgers now and Rodgers in 2005 are two different guys.

When he arrived in 06 in GB, Rodgers was way more modest and willing to learn and work on his mechanics. In 05 he had a I know it all attitude.

If I recall correctly Smith was picked becuase he was more "coachable".

I just think that Nolan would have ruined the career of any QB he picked, he would have ruined even Joe's career.

f**king ALEX SMITH man.

Literally one of the most exciting reasons for him to be gone will be so that we don't have to listen to arguments about him in every single thread.

Great throw by Aaron Rodgers. Dude has a cannon.

why?

"upside"?... "potential"?

when you are investing in the #1 overall pick and all that money....you should go based on facts....not assumptions.

Played against better competition.
Played in a Pro Offense.
Accurate QB with a Quick Release.

instinct. Runner is on the turn and Rodgers has the ball there on a rope

The saddest part is that Rodgers was a huge SF fan, and was really hoping we would draft him. To this day he holds a grudge.
