The Jets can refuse that, for Brian it would be a lateral move. We would need to make him HC to get him (or so thats my understanding)
im PRETTY sure this is made up. you cant be in talks and agreements with a coach to replace a guy while hes still coaching. they havent even talked about firing him yet. going behind his back and making this shady agreement for the offseason in week 8 is highly unlikely, and possibly illegal.
i think Holmgren will take over the HC position

Brian Schottenheimer is his son, not his brother.

Also, he's under contract in the same capacity in New York.

Marty Schottenheimer is 67 years old. I highly doubt he'll coach again. It should be also noted that he never won a Conference Championship game.

-Jon Gruden won a Super Bowl in 2002. Since, he has been to the playoffs twice, posting losses in both games.

-Mike Shanahan won back-to-back Super Bowls in 97-98. Since, he has won two playoff games, both of which came in the same season (2005).

Aside from those, he has not won a playoff game since John Elway was his quarterback.

....yet the people here would wet themselves if either got hired.

Welcome to Webzone logic. Enjoy your stay
this is complete bulls**t but i dont mind because i hope we go after Harbaugh anyway. and if were anywhere close to the top of the draft Luck will come out and Harbaugh will trade up if need be, to get him and were gonna go straight to the top with them. Harbaugh builds teams and he knows how to lead. the guy is a winner.

Nick Saban, Steve Spurrier, Bobby Petrino, Dennis Erickson, Butch Davis and June Jones all knew how to build teams and were winners too....in college. None of them built winners in the NFL.

Harbaugh has NFL experience and connections. his coaching staff right now is NFL calibur. what makes it tougher for him at stanford is that he has to not only recruit ball players but they have to be smart, stanford isnt a USC where u can just bring in any dummy just because they can play. that makes recruiting harder and the guy still did it. Harbaugh is a lot more qualified than nolan and singletary ever were. the guy was a probowl QB in the nfl and lasted for a very long time, he understands the NFL and he knows offense. one of the most creative offensive minds out there right now and thats exactly what we need. how many times did we see an OC leave us and watch our offense go out the door with them, only to install a new offense that would leave the following year? Harbaugh, if he would even take the job would be a great fit and would finally give us the stability, creativeness and actual coaching talent that this team has been missing since mooch left. our players arent even close to hitting their potential if they need to learn a new system every year, even systems as s**tty as the ones theyve been running lately.

What Harbaugh did as a player is meaningless because good players don't always make good coaches. Your point (He has never built or led an NFL franchise) is still invalid, because again other college coaches have had that same experience he has had prior to becoming an NFL head coach and failed.

And I know all about Stanford's academic standards and it's effect on recruiting. Notre Dame has it very similar standards.

he also worked for the raiders when they went to the superbowl in 2002 as an offensive assistant coach and he coached QBs with them as well. Gannon had an MVP season. im not saying it was all harbaugh but the man is a good coach. pete carrol kicked our ass hardcore earlier this year and Harbaugh has owned him lately. being a good player, namely a QB will help our offense, if you watch stanford you can see the creativity this guy has. something thats been lascking on offense for us since mooch left. at the very worst he would be a decent coach, at best the sky is the limit for this guy. he gets s**t done wherever he goes.

Harbaugh was the QB coach the year AFTER Gannon won the MVP and Gruden is the one credited with turning Gannon's career around

At the worst he could be another Sing/Nolan but yes the sky is the limit at best (just like with any other hot young upstart from the college ranks) but Harbaugh has not proved anything as an NFL coach so there is an obvious risk involved and due to his lack of NFL experience I can't buy into the whole "he knows how to build a team" and "this guy is a winner" thought process.

my bad he was an offensive assistant the year they went to the superbowl, he was QB coach the year after. i think this guy knows how to run a team infinitely better than nowin and singletary have. harbaugh wouldnt be burning timeouts left and right like singletary does. he hasnt proven anything as a headcoach in the NFL because he hasnt had the chance to yet. ofcourse there is a risk, as with any coach but Harbaugh has the credentials to atleast tell us he knows offense. stanfords offense is ridiculous and he was a pretty damn good QB himself so he sees the game as a QB would. that is very important, if we had a guy who atleast knew what the hell he was doing on offense running the show, we wouldnt be 2-6 right now. our lack of creativity on offense is the reason were stuck in neutral and were rolling backwards down a hill. gruden is a good coach and all but he didnt exactly light the league on fire with tampa bay either. besides the superbowl win he made the playoffs twice and got knocked out in the wildcard game. gruden wouldnt be a bad coach for our team because of the west coast offense he runs, but i think the niners should try harbaugh out. both offenses are better than what we have but harbaughs seems a bit more creative than what most teams are running.

Honda, if you want a guy who brings the WCO, has the experience, can assemble a professional staff, and knows how to lead + win then Chuckie is your man. Many also don't know just how much of Walsh's offense he has studied.

The year he was an offensive QC coach here under Holmgren, he spent a s**tload of his freetime watching Walsh tapes from practice and games, learning and taking notes.

Good chance he brings Callahan with him as his OC, who has worked with him in the past and has a great track record with developing and getting the most from his OL's.
