Tank Carradine is an animal and if I were GM, I'd pick him at 34 without hesitation. He will be one of the 1st guys picked tonight regardless..... I just hope it's Baalke that takes him.

In my mind, the need at DE is equally important as it is at NT. I don't think Justin Smith finishes this season in one piece, and it's over after that. Time to bring in his successor.

We need NT/DE but I guess we'll see at 3:35 PM.
If not Tank then maybe Jesse Williams who can play both

Stop with this nonsense that Jesse Williams can play both. He can't in our defense.... maybe in a traditional 3-4, but we don't run a traditional 3-4. We need some pass rush from our DEs. Justin Smith is a pass rusher. RayMac is a pass rusher. Jesse Williams is not.

I had Tank in my mock at #31. I like the idea of a pass rush specialist.
But I will stick with Ertz at #34. My bias is that Baalke will select offense as much as defense. Kap as starter changes the philosophy of the offense and requires more weapons, even more so than the defense that was #2 before the injuries to the Smith brothers.
I'm also concerned about Harvin at Seattle and Austin at St. Louis. The need for a slot corner is perhaps just as needed as a FS. I'm hoping the Niners can trade up into the #45 range and get Robert Alford.

I don't see Jesse Williams at DE as anything more than just a stop-gap or depth on the 49ers defense. Maybe if this were the Steelers we were talking about....but in the 49ers system, he's pretty much strictly an NT.

He fell hard because of the injury. He is and will be a huge addition opposite side Smith. I really hope we get him..

I hope it's Cornellius "Tank" Carradine with the #34 pick. I think he would of been the best DE in this draft if he didn't get hurt IMO.
