Next year's draft should be loaded with top tier talent. Wonder if SF will shop late 1st or early 2nd for a 1st next yr. #PotentialJackpot
Tweet got me thinking. Who are some potential trade partners for such a scenario? We should be able to squeeze a team for a 2014 1st and mid-round pick (3rd or 4th) for #34 overall. It would be a little painful after spending the last week since the Alex trade fantasizing over our practically back-to-back picks, but it might be the way to go.
What are some teams that are in "we need to restock via the draft ASAP" mode and are delusional enough to think they can make the playoffs this season? The Jets come to mind. It would allow them to take three players in the top 39, one of which would be a QB (seems like there will be a little run on QBs in the early 2nd). The Cardinals are another one if we're willing to make this kind of deal with them. Hard to see them in anything but 4th place next year, so it would be a fun gamble and extra motivation when we play them twice.
Other trade partners who might want #34 without giving up 2013 picks?
It's a good idea if we can do it. The Patriots routinely used to trade very late 1st or even 2nd round picks for a 1st next year. Some of those turned out into higher picks. We are kind of the new Patriots as we manipulate teams into deals that aren't good for them and are great for us. LOL.....
It's easier said than done. You have to find somebody dumb enough to do it. Sometimes there is. The Raiders used to make trades like this all the time that turned into top 10 picks next year for the other team.
