This is what I was thinking. They always trade down. It'll be an upset if they actually use that 1st pick in the second for themselves. What would we have to give up to switch picks in the 2nd?

NE.. but they'd have to throw in a player of need for us too (i.e.-NT, CB,OLSo B(but not TBC again), slot WR/KR/PR...So guys like; Chung,Brace, Pryor,Edleman,Kaczur, or Bodden-would have to be part of the deal or Something like that for me..

I'd trade our 7th and 45th pick for NE's two 1st rounders. Here would be my ideal scnerio
NE trades up to get AJ Green/Julio Jones. We get
17. CB/DE - Prince Amukmara/Jimmy Smith/Cam Jordan
28. Christan Ponder
45. CB/DE (whichever we didn't get at #17) Marvin Austin/ Curtis Brown/ Ras I Dawling
Another scenerio would be Chicago trading up to get a WR. They could give us their 1st rounder and next years first rounder. It wouldn't help us this year but could give us wiggle room to get Andrew Luck next year.
Um . . . you traded away the 45th pick.
But otherwise, nice going.

I like it too. But if we still have #45, I'd go Akeem Ayers..

1RB
1FB
1WR
1NT
2OLBs
2CBs
That's ten total needs. Some may argue that we could use another DE and S, but the ones listed above are the necesities for the season. We have twelve picks and once FA opens we will fill a few of those needs (Probably a vet QB, CB depth, an OLB and maybe a NT) We need to parlay our picks into quality over quantity!
#7 Quinn
#28 Ponder, NE stated that pick is "for sale" Niners trade the second and third or the second and two fourths for pick28, the niners get their qb.
Assuming NE takes te two fourths,
Pick 3rd round - best CB or NT
Round 5- best CB or NT, whatever is not in pick in 3rd round. Voila, yo have the teams qb, stud pass rusher, and hopefully a CB and NT who can develop.
The rest of the draft you take BPA with an emphasis towards qb #2 (Stanzi or Devlin) RB, and take your kicker with a 7th round pick.

If Peterson and Miller are gone by the seventh pick, I personally think a possible trade partner might be the Rams because of their desperate need for a receiver. I think either AJ Green or Julio Jones are taken at six by Cleveland leaving the other available at 7. From there, I can see the Niners trading down to 14 and getting the Rams second in exchange for our first and fourth. At 14 we go Kerrigan or Aldon Smith or if somehow Quinn falls because of questions of him not playing his senior year, then Quinn. With that extra second and our third, we move back into the first round to get Ponder or stay pat and see if Kaepernick or Dalton are available there. I still see us going after two QBs in this draft. Maybe Greg McElroy or Stanzi in the fourth if they are available by then. I think this is plausible and reasonable.

The only guys I could NE trading up for woul be Dareus and maybe Miller or Quinn. Still, it's not likely. They have a lot of holes to fill and they're sitting pretty.
I do think we're tossing around the idea of trading back. I could see us trade back 5-10 spots and drafting Phil Taylor, then using the extra picks to trade up with our 2nd pick to grab our QB.

I think the key to us trading down is Cam Newton. I expect Gabbert to go #1. Carolina just has to find their franchise QB.
I have a hard time believing that Buffalo or Cinny would spend such an early pick on Newton. I think Arizona would like to get their hands on Newton because they're trying to shift more towards a rushing attack, so he'd could be worked in slowly and they can get rid Anderson. Skelton isn't ready either. I fully expect the Cards to make a big move this offseason at the position, whether it be through the draft or free agency.
IF Cam is there at #7, we should move back. The Redskins (10), Vikings (12), and Dolphins (15) are going to be gunning for a trade up if they are sold on Newton. We'd probably get another 3rd and a future pick to make the swap.
If that happens, I think Phil Taylor is our guy. He's the Raji of this class and he would fill a huge void at NT.

I Texas would be a good partner.. I personally think that if both Miller and Quinn are there, it would be perfect for both Kubiak and Wade Phillips to trade up for either one.. that's cause they need THAT OLB in their new scheme..

Based on who I think will be on the board, and which positions the team is targeting for their first and second rounders, I am a full advocate of trading down.
The team seems intent on drafting a CB and a QB with their first two picks, so unless the team sees Peterson, Gabbert, or Newton fall into their lap, or sees Prince as worthy of the 7th overall selection, it makes complete sense to trade down.
The Niners are hamstrung by having to find a replacement for Clements, and also a top level college QB.
I see zero chance the team will draft Quinn, and nearly a zero chance of drafting Fairley. If I was a betting man, I'd say the team reaches for Prince at 7, and then trades up from 45 to get their QB.
To me, the solution is flipping picks with Philly in the first and second round, and obtaining Kolb in the deal. The flipping comes out to the value of a mid-first rounder, and the Eagles seem very high on Prince. We could obtain Kolb in the deal, plus manuever to select the best CB left on the board.

Mad dog, I am with you 100%, I have been advocating swapping picks with Philly in rounds 1, 2 for Kolb, heck I would even add in round 3, you maintain your picks, get a vet qb and move forward.

Prince will be gone by 17 and that is to high for Smith. Also, it is likely Ponder will be gone by 28. I see Seattle possibly taking him if that is who they want.
The more I read about Prince, the more I like, in the long run he may be better than Peterson. Many say he is only a step behind PP. He was a former RB so you know he is fluid, in H.S. he played both DB and RB but went to Neb. to be a RB, but has transitioned nicely, in the only game that he got burned, he adjusted at halftime, and remedied that. If we can't get Von Miller, PP, Dareus, Bowers, PA, and maybe Quinn or Fairley (for me jury is still out on them), then I would move back and get a Kerrigan or Jordan, but no less than 15 (dophins pick), get a 1 and 2, then trade a 2 and 3 to get back in the 1rst before Seattle and pick Ponder if that is who the Niners want or 2 and later some picks (4 and later) to get Carolina's 2nd and take Kap.

If we're not high on Amukamara, I see us trading down for Jimmy Smith instead, and then packaging picks to move up for Dalton or whomever.
