Miller is an explosive do-it-all OLB. He ran circles around some of the best OL prospects in the draft at the Senior Bowl and despite his lack of ideal bulk, I think he will be a terror off the edge in a 3-4.
2nd Round: CB Brandon Burton Utah 6'0" 192
CB is a big need for the 49ers and if they don't get one at #7, who have to think they will target someone in the 2nd round. Burton is a big, physical CB who excels in man coverage and will give the 49ers a good cover CB.
3rd Round: QB Christian Ponder Florida St. 6'2" 222
Behind Gabbert, Ponder is my favorite QB prospect in the 2011 draft. He is smart, tough and NFL ready with good mechanics and above average accuracy and arm strength. He suffered some injuries in college and struggled with consistency but I think Harbaugh can turn this guy into a good NFL starter.
4th Round: CB Rock Carmichael Va Tech 5'11" 186
Physically, Carmichael has it all, with superb quickness and speed. He struggles with consistency and has too many lapses but the tools are their to develop into a starting CB at the next level.
4th Round: DL Kenrick Ellis Hampton 6'5" 340
An athletic freak who has struggled with off the field issues, Ellis profiles as DE or NT in the 3-4. The 49ers need to improve depth and Ellis could evolve into a rare talent.
5th Round: FB Owen Marecic Stanford 6'1" 247
49ers need a new FB and Marecic is a fierce competitor and favorite of Harbaugh. This pick is a no brainer.
6th Round: RB Jacquizz Rodgers Oregon St. 5'7" 190
Rodgers is an explosive talent who reminds me a lot of Maurice Jones-Drew. He will give the 49ers another gear outside of Gore and Dixon.
6th Round: ILB Bruce Miller Central Florida 6'2" 255
A tough and rugged ILB that can compete with McKillop at the TED
7th Round: WR Jeff Maehl Oregon 6'1" 189
Maehl is a smooth WR who is tough going over the middle and has good hands. A good fit for the P-squad.
