lol at Locker being a better QB because he is a better athlete and has a rocket arm. Heck if that is what you want in a QB then you can find tons of those in college. Ill take the guy with good accuracy, average athlete but most importantly, he can read defenses and has good pocket awareness.

What are you talking about?
Troy Smith/Jason Campbell >>>>>>>> Eli Manning/Matt Schaub

Troy Smith is an amazing athlete with a very strong arm, does that make him a good QB?

Luck already runs the pro-style offense so he knows all the 3-5-7 step drops, already shows great footwork and quick reads/release. Most I like about Luck is that he makes smart choices and delivers an accurate pass even when under pressure.
I hope they don't repeat mistake of passing on Rodgers. if they have a chance to get Luck they should go for it. I think the knocks on Luck are very similar to when Rodgers was coming out. Not athletic enough, not big enough arm, already reach his ceiling etc.
Accuracy, quick reads and pocket awareness is good enough to reach the upper levels of the NFL QBs. Just look at guys like Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Joe Montana . Those guys never had the best legs or arms, but that didn't matter for them since they possessed all the traits i mentioned.
I totally agree. The things that impress the scouts do not always show up in a youtube highlight.
Luck has incredible instincts that can not be thought. He already reads defenses better than some pro quarterbacks. That combined with his intelligence make him a coach on the field. He has free reign to audible and change the play at the line.
Scouts see these abilities combined with great accuracy, footwork, and decision making, and that is where some of the Peyton Manning comparisons derive.
Remember, he is only a sophmore with less than 20 college starts. Jim Harbaugh feels he is the best prospect he has ever seen.
Bill Walsh used to say that accuracy and footwork were more important than pure arm strength. In fact, it was Montana's footwork that impressed Walsh most @ Joe's initially workout for Bill In L.A.

Luck could fall a little in the draft if teams get worried about some of those things, which would benefit us.
Lucks Dad was a great college QB and had a nice career in the NFL mostly as a backup. He's the new AD for West Virginia as well. Luck has been groomed to be a pro QB since the day he was born.

Which of those is not true?

Luck is a good athlete. He showed it once again in the game against Washington. Is he a better athlete than Locker. No. But that doesn't mean that Locker is better than he is. Luck is NFL ready at this point in his career as a red shirt sophomore.

How can you not care if a prospect is NFL ready? Sam Bradford was a top rated prospect coming out of Oklahoma. One of the reasons why he was a top prospect is because of his accuracy and his ability to make quick reads. He had no trouble learning an NFL playbook because Oklahoma did run some plays out of a pro style formation. He spent a lot of time at shotgun, but he knew how to drop step.
It's difficult to argue with you because you refuse to see anything past Jake Locker and his "potential" at QB. I like Luck and Locker and I continue to stand by my opinions. Now despite the fact Locker has bad talent around him, he has missed a lot of receivers even when he has time. He's going to have to sit and fix his mechanics, his footwork, and his accuracy.

Are you serious? His footwork is decent, but his mechanics need work. That was one of the things NFL analysts were talking about last year before he decided to stay in school. If his mechanics were good, he wouldn't be missing wide open receivers so badly. There was a few times this past Saturday against Stanford where he threw WAY over his receiver's head. I watched the game twice so I noticed.
