The 49ers’ revamped defensive line will include three players making their season debuts in Week 3.The 49ers on Saturday signed defensive Viliami Fehoko to their 53-man roster to take a roster spot that opened when the team placed wide receiver Demarcus Robinson on injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain.
The 49ers also elevated defensive tackles Kevin Givens and Sebastian Valdez from the practice squad to suit up for the 49ers’ game Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals at Levi’s Stadium.
The 49ers’ defensive line took four hits in the past week.
Rookie defensive tackle James Thompson Jr. sustained a high-ankle sprain in the 49ers’ win over the Miami Dolphins last week. Romello Height will miss at least one game after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured hand. CJ West was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday when he required surgery to remove bone chips in his knee.
Then, star defensive end Nick Bosa sustained a calf injury during warmups before practice on Thursday. He is expected to miss “a few weeks,” 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said.
