On Saturday, the San Francisco 49ers announced the following roster moves ahead of Sunday's games against the Arizona Cardinals.
- Promoted DL Viliami Fehoko to the active 53-man roster
- Elevated DL Kevin Givens to the active roster from the practice squad (standard elevation)
- Elevated DL Sebastian Valdez to the active roster from the team's practice squad (standard elevation)
- Placed WR Demarcus Robinson on injured reserve
Fehoko, a fourth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 2023, has spent time with Dallas, Washington, and Indianapolis during his NFL career. The Mountain View, California, native played his college football at San Jose State, where he recorded 191 tackles, 46 tackles for loss and 23 sacks in 48 games. San Francisco signed Fehoko to its practice squad earlier this week after he was waived by the team at the end of August. He has not appeared in any NFL games. Fehoko will make his debut on Sunday.
Givens returns to San Francisco after being waived by the team in August and rejoining the practice squad on September 1. The Penn State product has spent his entire NFL career with the 49ers since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2019, appearing in 70 games with 14 starts. He has recorded 92 tackles, eight sacks, and one forced fumble during his career.
Valdez, a 6-foot-3, 301-pound defensive tackle, spent his rookie season on San Francisco's practice squad after signing with the team as an undrafted free agent in 2025. He played collegiately at Washington, where he appeared in 51 games and finished his career with 103 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks. With Alfred Collins already on injured reserve and James Thompson, Jr. ruled out against Arizona, Valdez could be in line for his first regular-season action with the 49ers.
Robinson being placed on injured reserve means he will miss at least the next four games. He suffered an ankle injury last week and was ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals after not practicing during the week. The veteran receiver had quickly moved into a significant role for San Francisco following the injuries to Ricky Pearsall and De'Zhaun Stribling, making his absence another hit to an already thin receiver group. Robinson had five receptions for 84 yards and a touchdown through the first two games of the season.
49ers work out four defenders
According to the NFL transaction report, the 49ers tried out linebackers Jamin Davis (Kentucky) and Matt Judon (Grand Valley State) on Saturday. Additionally, the team tried out defensive ends Julian Okwara (Notre Dame) and Dawuane Smoot (Illinois).
Kyle Juszczyk fined twice, other 49ers fines
In other news, the NFL fined CB Upton Stout $7,501 for taunting and DL Keion White $13,770 for landing on top of QB Malik Willis with his full body weight. FB Kyle Juszczyk was fined $14,926 twice for the "chugging" celebration, which he did two times last week. The NFL deemed those celebrations inappropriate. Juszczyk is appealing both fines.
