SANTA CLARA — Trent Williams believes Deebo Samuel 2.0 will be a force for the 49ers in 2026. The All-Pro left tackle spoke on during Thursday night’s broadcast of San Francisco’s preseason loss to the Tennessee Titans, sharing that this is the best version of Samuel that he has seen. On Saturday after practice, Williams went into further detail.
“His attitude,” Williams said when asked what he has seen from his teammate. “Obviously, everyone notices when you see him, he’s in a different type of shape. Probably the best shape I’ve seen him in since I’ve known him.
“And I know he’s coming from a situation where he feels people doubt his ability. I think he’s a dangerous player without anyone doubting him, so you put that extra doubt, and it adds extra fuel to his fire. I think he’s going to be a lot better.”
Samuel’s last season in the Bay Area prior to his stint with the Washington Commanders was not his best. During that 2024 NFL season, he recorded 51 catches for 670 yards and three touchdowns, along with 42 carries for 136 yards and a rushing score....
