The next man up wasn't sure he was up to the challenge. At least that's the way Jamar Taylor felt in the moments before his first defensive snap in the fourth quarter of the 49ers' loss to the Eagles on Oct. 4.

Mike McDaniel discusses his new role as 49ers offensive coordinator
By David Bonilla
Apr 15, 2021
Mike McDaniel started working with Kyle Shanahan with the Houston Texans. He is one of the San Francisco 49ers head coach's most trusted assistants, serving as the team's run-game coordinator during his first four seasons in Santa Clara. In January, McDaniel was promoted to offensive coordinator, becoming the first coach under Shanahan to hold that title.
"Immediately, you're trying to prove your worth and prove the people right that have really invested in you and invested in your career, and given you opportunities, and et cetera, et cetera," McDaniel recently told 49ers.com reporter Keiana Martin. "It instills a level of hunger on top of the hunger that you already had."

The latest ESPN mock draft has Tannenbaum, a former NFL executive, playing the role of general manager for all 32 teams and choosing the players he feels are the best fit for

The analyst feels there may be a smokescreen in play, masking New York's true target—Justin Fields of Ohio State.
Galina took a look at the NFC West and created a mock draft for the entire division. In it, he has the Jets taking Fields, and Wilson falling to the No. 3 spot, where San Francisco pounces.

By David Bonilla
Apr 13, 2021
ESPN analyst Mel Kiper expanded his latest mock draft to two rounds, and it features the San Francisco 49ers adding prospects on both sides of the football. The team traded from No. 12 overall to the No. 3 slot on March 26.
The Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to select Trevor Lawrence with the top selection, and the New York Jets are projected to add Zach Wilson at No. 2 overall. That's exactly what Kiper has the two teams doing within his mock draft, leaving San Francisco with its choice of quarterbacks in Mac Jones, Justin Fields, and Trey Lance.
