Maiocco, barrows and kawakami are all at least decent. I gained a lot of respect for kawakami when he was the first/only reporter reporting on the harbaugh rift. Many of our fans (myself included at one point!) that he was full of s**t or inflating the issue but he was correct about everything.

You contrast that with a guy like cohn. No actual reporting or digging for the most part. I do read cohns stuff because it can be entertaining but what's funny is one week he'll go "Joe Smith was terrible. He shouldn't be in the NFL" and then the next game if he does well he'll go "Joe Smith is the best player on the team, need to get him more involved but of course Kyle won't"

Again it can be funny but he is just that: a joke

Lombardi I don't follow much either other than for basic news (player X signed or cut).

Both Lombardi & cohn will take hard line positions and then flip week to week as if that's what they've always thought.

No politics but Grant Cohn reminds me of Hunter Biden. Better yet-Eddie Haskill.

Kawakami was correct about everything because Harbaugh was leaking directly to him.

Tate Ratledge would have fit right in here. SMH

Just like the two dozen other players we whiffed on under Lynch.

These guys just can't help themselves. They never take BPA. Ever

Tyler Booker over Mykel Williams
Aireontae Ersery over Alfred Collins
Dylan Fairchild over Nick Martin
Zach Frazier over Ricky Pearsall

LT- Trent Williams / Aireontae Ersery
LG- Tyler Booker
C- Zach Frazier
RG- Dominic Puni / Dylan Fairchild
RT- Colton McKivitz

We could have easily built a dominant Oline but instead we take bust after bust and this Oline can't hold up vs the top DLines when it matters

You gotta understand that this team will never draft a IOL in the 1st rd let alone top 15…especially over a DL. Booker was NEVER a legit option.

Williams was a fine pick, got hurt and here we are. Booker could have torn his ACL here and we'd be all butt hurt about the pick all the same.

Collins stinks plan and simple, dude can't do the one thing he was suppose to be good at. Like others have said his fundamentals blow….it negates his size and athleticism.
They are following in the Bill Walsh mode. Walsh rarely drafted OL at the top.

Walsh said that you need talent on Defense, offense you can make up for it with schemes.

Not ready to give up on Mykel.

If there was an issue for me it was Wirf and Kinlaw

The other issue is picking people to play multiple position like Arik over Buckner
or Solomon

We don't have Bobb McKittrick around unfortunately.

lol maybe he is I rarely ever listen to him but he's always glazing or down playing things anytime I do. Not taking a shot at you but it is weird your username is Donnie Darko. You are one of the more optimistic posters I'm not surprised you like him

Imagine the yardage we would put up if Shanahan would for once stop drafting busts at DL, LB and RB and draft a damn offensive linemen who are always there for the taking. Why do these guys have to make it so complicated?

If only the team could draft with the hindsight you use.

I could be wrong but I feel like I got in a debate with him and a couple of his many mocks during that draft where he had SF drafting Collins numerous times.

For sure but let's not act like Chris Foerster isn't regarded as one of the best OL coaches in the league (for a while).

They value OTs not really OG. They're never gonna spend premium capital on that guard spot. Overall seems like they like vetted OC vs going green there as well.

We all act like the Wirfs pick was a no-brainer but that's years later. I had people arguing with me on if he could play OT, or if he was a OG. He was the 4th OT taken that year….I also remember lynch saying it was down to wirfs and Kin and they had the Trent trade.

If Collins is the starter next to Osa, the Rams are going to run duo right down the 49ers' throat. I hope Raheem Morris mixes things up with the fronts because you don't have the horses to stay in the base wide 9.

Honest question - how long is acceptable to wait for a draft pick to develop?

Yeah I don't have a strong opinion but 2 years sounds valid. Especially high picks.

We shall see how it goes this year.

It does feel like there is this impulsive thread running through narratives that picks 1-5 have to flash immediately.
one thing I am reading re: his slow start, offseason shoulder surgery, kyle even saying he started slow and for good reason
this is kyle: "He had a real late start — which is not his fault. He had some big surgeries to get over this offseason, so he's got as late a start as anyone, and that's why I thought it was really important for him to play.

he may need a few games to round into form here
