He is still valued. His problem has been injuries that have prevented him from developing into what the drafted him to be. Shanahan gave him extra reps last PS game to help him close the learning curve.

So far he has been good to average one game then terrible the next. Bad the next game the another average to go outing. No consistency. West has been even less consistent.

This Cosell fella's got a way with words. Qualify's every criticism of players without making you feel too down on him. His uncle Howard was a lawyer. They tend to make good wordsmiths. Just like politicians.

His comparison with Jordan Davis was interesting. He sees them as similar players. Davis, 6'6", also had problems with high pad levels through his first two years. He has now solved the problem and was ranked #15 among Interior Defenders last season.

I think we tend to forget how Jerry Rice or Josh Allen etc looked at their first year.

I'm 100% Willing to give this fellow more time.

The 49ers have some very interesting pieces to play with on the DL. What they need is for the young guys, Collins, along with West and Williams, to stay healthy for an extended period of time to learn their craft. It isn't easy for a young player, even highly drafted players to make a big impact in their first year or two.

I have seen flashes from Collins and West from last season and a bit of preseason, that give hope. Of course, Williams was beginning to have a solid impact in the run game just before he was injured. I am hopeful that by the time we hit the 6 game mark we will see these guys filling solid roles.

Yeah I think you got a good one in Alf. He's not on the level of Byron Murphy or Leonard Williams but he can work and improve and make that really bad dl a lot better more respectable. The pass rush was non existent without Bosa so it's good to see that he's healthy

Murphy is a leverage monster. I was so pissed when ya'll got him. I was a buck over Williams guy in the draft both turned out to be studs.

Collins technique is junk. Wasn't great at Texas and he's been hurt in both off seasons now….wasn't a fan of the pick. We will see.

The biggest concern is if he's starting, easing him in would be best with limited snaps and then ramp it up when he shows better consistency unfortunately Mykel is hurt and Keion is our only other 3 down edge. We do have Fred and Dre behind him but in short yard situations he might single handily give up the 1st down
