This guys body is way too soft. He easily has the body build to be an absolute unit but clearly he doesn't take football and or conditioning serious at all. He's going to end up being an overhyped guy who never lives up to expectations as long as he puts off getting in shape.

Usually guys gain that body in their first full offseason between years 1 & 2. Doing injury rehab instead robbed him of that.

I don't think he's bad or anything but this defense he may not be a great fit for he is a space eater and still has a place

there is no denying though he hasn't exactly been amazing but hopefully he gets better in time that was the case last year

either way I think it would be good to have a rotation at that spot keep everyone fresh

The ironic part is that the 49ers need a space eater. Collins was drafted to come in and stop those inside zone/duo runs that offenses spam at the wide 9.

It's kind of wild that Robert Saleh was praising Collins and then proceeds to run duo and inside zone right at him in the preseason.

the issue is more of a when a space eater becomes a space squanderer

I've never seen a guy as big as him being moved so easily.... Seemingly every play. Maybe there are a bunch where he is solid and I've seen cherry picked bad plays but even "bad" players his size are bad for other reasons.

This guy is slow off the line and plays like he's 250 pounds taking on blocks. In that regard I don't know if he can be fixed.... How do you coach that? It's an honest question, not trying to be funny

There isn't any inclination this will be the case. It's not like he was playing great last season either. It doesn't look good for him. I just hope the team doesn't play him because of draft position when there are much better guys on the roster.

Man I just don't see it with this kid, I thought it was a bad pick in the 2nd rd. Regarded as one of the top run defenders in the draft and he's been anything but that

Massive size and length, but he doesn't play nasty pad level is crap etc etc. DJ blaze made him his b***h last night lol

pops out of his stance rather than exploding forward; cleats don't stay in the grass; pads rise; hands outside of OL frame. The guy just sucks right now. He negates every single athletic trait with terrible technique and poor fundamentals. He's been horrible in every single preseason game.
