It was a callback to the Hangman/Swerve cage match at All Out 2024 specially with MJF trying to kill Hangman with the chair shot after that. It's also MJF showing the fans how hypocrite they are. When Hangman is doing this, it's fine, he's a badass but MJF, he 's the bad guy. At least that's what Maxwell is thinking. MJF in kayfabe hates Hangman but what he hates the most is the fact that the fans choosed Hangman and not him. I thought that match was awesome. It was the epic match these two needed to make that rivalry really special.
There was also the callback to the 2022 Revolution dog collar match between MJF and CM Punk. MJF seeing ghosts and saying "Not again!!!" killed me.^^
