Manchester United
great day though on the beer and we were loud throughout the game.
There was trouble in the city centre and fans of both sides did some not so nice things. Man united fans goading us with turkey flags and Leeds fans responded with Munich chants.
Was great to renew hostilities with them though.
Sorry but thats really pathetic.
Yes it is I don't agree with it but what is also extremely pathetic is man united fans purposely brought Turkish flags to goad Leeds fans about 2 Leeds fans that were stabbed in turkey. Let's not paint Leeds fans as just pathetic. Man united are as bad
Context to that 'Munich' song right here. We shouldn't stoop down to their level but there was only going to be one reaction to this f**king clown. pic.twitter.com/fVDTYystzV

Oh I am not painting any fan base as pathetic. Those are the actions of certain individuals - in the minority - and don't speak for the entire fanbase. ManU fan(s) who did that are also pathetic human beings. Huge majority of the ppl are good fans - it's the small but more vocal a*****es who get the attention.

Alzheimer is one of the worst things a person can go through. Even worse for a guy who had such a legendary career and life. To forget almost everything about you life - such a cruel way.

That is true, I'm all for giving teams and players abuse but there's a line. Tragic incidents, homophobic, racial are should be off limits. The Munich chants/ turkey flags and throat slitting gestures crossed the line.
but people were actually getting offended by Leeds fans chanting you let you're country down to sancho and Rashford for missing penalties in the euro final. Stating it was racially motivated. Which is nonsense if it would have McGuire and shaw that missed they'd have got the same.
the premier league has become so sanitised whilst we've been out of it. We're going have plenty of fans moaning about us this season.

I don't know about all that. I don't know if THAT particular incident is racially motivated but there is no question I saw a LOT of racially motivated attacks on those guys after the Euro Final. McGuire and Shaw would never face that kind of abuse.
This is my question to "fans" who think they let their country down - wtf have you done for your country?!? Why not take their place?!? They are 21 and 23 year old guys. I can't stand fans who think they're doing something. This isn't life and death. Grow up...bc of your own shortcomings - you put absurd expectations on these guys. How about you do something for yourself - the most basic thing - like be decent and civil to other ppl rather than attacking others in a pack of hyenas.

I think this is where our cultures differ we'll probably not so much nowadays with social media and everyone getting offended so easily.
you mentioned would shaw and McGuire get that abuse 100% they would. There have been plenty of the white players that have missed penalties for England and received the same stick from the crowd after tournaments Stuart Pearce, Chris waddle and Gareth Southgate and David Beckham was blamed for being sent off in 1998 he received some really bad abuse, Which is what those who scream out calling it discrimination don't get Leeds don't discriminate black, white, doesn't matter if we can get under your skin then we'll attempt to, that's football. Away fans aren't there to clap along the opposition and give them to best chance of playing well against you, especially for teams we hate. we're there to put them off their game without going over the line.
you also ask why do we think they let their country down, people don't really believe they did but sancho and rashford probably kick themselves on a night thinking about what might have been. So it will bother them.
not all chants have to be taken literally, a lot of chants are taking the piss and funny.
Leeds sing about telling your son to shoot Chelsea scum (fans)
Also Gary neville shags his brother and his mother all the neville's shag each they're all inbred
we don't actually believe the neville's shag each other and I wouldnt tell my son to go shoot Chelsea fans so they aren't chants that people should look at and take to heart and get offended. They missed penalties we are taking the piss out them for it. Nothing more
Beckham loved us
David Beckham lets the Leeds United fans know what he thinks of them as they sing songs about his wife and 5 month old son during a game at Old Trafford, 1999. pic.twitter.com/WN0BZjtu1s

Yea, I guess my sense of humor is different. I don't find anything funny about all of this. If you guys are all so tough and don't get offended easily - then how does it usually end up with things like Munich/Turkey - death threats and eventually violence. I have noticed ppl who say - "it's all fun and games, don't get offended" are usually the ones getting offended pretty easily.
I don't think it's about different cultures. I think it's about being a decent human being. Oh and I never said away fans should clap along with opposition. Lol that's a ridiculous leap from what I was saying.

I'm not trying to say we are tough. But that maybe we have a different sense of humour. British humour is self deprecating, we tend to make fun of each other, there is a line that shouldn't be crossed I.e. deaths, tragic, incidents, racism, homophobia etc, the rest is fair game and the players are in the wrong game if they can't stand up to a few jibes about letting their country down for missing penalties, they have 2 options thrive on it and make themselves play better or they wilt under it. Nothing to do with not being decent human beings.
with regards to it ending up in violence generally those looking to have a fight will use the Munich/turkey stuff as an excuse to have that fight.
The best way to deal with is embrace it shove it back in people's faces by playing well or even laugh at yourself. Those 3 players I mentioned in the earlier post Southgate waddle and Pearce were in a Pizza Hut advert in the 90's laughing at themselves for missing penalties. Everything doesn't have to be taken to heart.

Ya it's definitely a different culture, and not just England, that's basically throughout Europe for the most part.
Here in the states you rarely see fans attacking each other like that. Here and there a little fight breaks out in the stands but it's usually just a couple drunk dudes and that's it.
And 4ml, it's not like we are so well behaved and we are incapable of acting this way. The reason you don't see that kind of violence here is bc somebody is gonna have a gun lol.

Yeah that definitely helps obviously in turkey they had knives and killed 2 Leeds fans but generally you know that if you're fighting it's with fists. So most go into a fight thinking worst I'll get is a bit of a kick in.
With regards to hammering players, I try think if it was the NFL and you had a player that missed a field goal in the last minute to win the super bowl, if that player then came to play against the 49ers I'd want the fans to be all over him trying to get under his skin to make mistakes. If a receiver fumbled a catch you'd jump all over him to hope you get in his head same with a bad pass from a quarterback. Give them as much stick/abuse as possible without crossing the line.

I lived about 12 years all over Europe - trust me I know the differences in culture. Majority of ppl there will not be ok with all the nonsense that goes on during some of the matches.
And again, I am not saying fan base here in US is better or fans of Leeds are bad or fans of ManU are not civil. It's the actions of individuals. Can't paint the whole country or fans of a club with a brush. Not really my point. But, there are way too many incidents that end up with fans clashing with each other in the streets (not just in the stadium) - so I don't get the whole - "oh we can take the joke" or "not everything has to be taken so seriously all the time" bit. loool obviously it's taken too seriously otherwise we wouldn't see fans meeting in the middle of some street to fight each other.
Last thing on Sancho, Saka, and Rashford -
All 3 players have been racially abused on social media and in the stands. They have received death threats. Is that also jokes and shouldn't be taken to heart?!?
Several English clubs, media personalities, ex-footballers, current players have all come out in their defense. I am not saying what Leeds fans did was racial or what other fanbases will do to Saka - but after what has happened to them already - there needs to be some self-awareness and compassion for these guys. One of them is 19 year old loool

Yes...one of the 49ers fumbled a punt in a NFC Conf. Finals game a while back and some of the fans threatened to kill him and racially abused him. It was quite pathetic. There are all kinds of fans everywhere. What is not cool is other ppl justifying that behavior and saying - it's not that serious. Not saying you're doing that or Leeds fans were abusive - but there is no question that those 3 players were racially abused after the Euro Final and even received death threats - and it wasn't just couple of incidents. Racial abuse was pretty widespread. In light of that - I think fans should look within to figure out what they're doing wrong. Are they taking a game way too seriously that a decent percentage of ppl feel it's ok to racially abuse players and threaten to kill them.
Ok...I am done. Nothing more to add. Back to soccer.
Watching Barca without Messi just felt weird. And...Messi got a ridiculous welcome from the Paris fans. That was amazing. Barcelona couldn't give him a proper farewell...good to see the GOAT received so well by the Paris fans. Never seen those kind of scenes.

You make some sensible points but to counter a few I'd say the reason that football/soccer is the biggest sport in the world is the passion and tribalism that it invokes in people this why people struggle with the American franchise system where teams can just be picked up and moved towns and cities whilst we get the reasons why, we just can't stomach it because a team represents us. This is why emotions go over the top when at games, rangers and Celtic it represents religion etc. The fighting etc is extreme and it's no where near as bad as it once was but the rivalries exist people can be mates all year but for those few times they play each other their mates are the enemy. Tensions and emotions run high when things go overboard like fighting which is mainly young lads with a few older blokes that have failed to grow up but most eventually grow out of it. it'll never go away though. No one wants a game of silent crowds sat in their seats being pleasant to each other, you want that hostile nasty atmosphere but not for it to go too far.
as for the lads that missed the pens. Are we saying we can only take the piss out of white players that miss pens because it might invite racism if they are black.
Leeds had the same with calling out a female pundit for speaking nonsense we were chastised for daring to say you're wrong as it invites sexism. Surely the sexists and racists would be racist and sexist anyway. I understand it's a fine balance but it's going a bit far when you can't say anything without being called out for it.

I understand the passion for the game in Europe and in South America. I have gone to quite a few of these games and they're amazing. I think there is a quite a bit of middle ground between silent crowds sitting in their seats being pleasant to each other and hostile nasty atmosphere.
Also - not saying you can only be critical of white players.
I am not saying anything like this. Either you're misunderstanding or you're having a debate with someone else.
