2026 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

The Giants have the #4 overall pick this year. MLB has a rule that teams can't pick in the top 6 in consecutive years if they're a large market team. That means the Giants can't pick any higher than 7th next season even if they finish dead last in all of baseball this year. It's supposed to keep teams from tanking.

Oh wow, didn't know about that. Thanks for the answer CatchMaster80.
I don't think Melvin ever said this when the team had a bad outing.

This team tanks year after year. Been a fan since I could pick up a ball. Candlestick veteran and the whole 9… Larry the abuser Baer needs to go.. this team is in bad shape. Back to cellar dwelling.. aww well at least we won't a few world series in my lifetime. It will be a while before that happens again. It's like the organization was bitten and infected by the shitshow bug. They can't seem to find the cure. Reorganization is the only hope.

Actually they don't tank. They keep finishing around .500. That's a terrible place to be every year. Not good enough for the playoffs and not bad enough to get a high pick. It also gives ownership and management the false idea that just a couple of tweaks to the lineup are going to fix the problem.

And 3yrs ago he was changing locks as a locksmith. He seems to have bad control early in the count and batters sit on a pitch and hit him really hard.
I wonder why they didn't start Eldridge at DH today? When I saw they had Schmitt at DH I assumed they were facing a LH pitcher but that wasn't the case. I expected to see him sit against LHs but not against RHs. Especially after he hit his first HR yesterday.
Ramos was lucky lol.

Hopefully their defense is decent, nothing worse then having a catcher who cant block balls

What about a catcher who can't hit? I think their defense will be more than serviceable, and their hitting will make up for whatever they are lacking defensively when compared to Bailey

I'm sure that's what the Giants are hoping for but it remains to be seen. Susac has a strong arm but we'll see how good he is at handling the pitchers and blocking balls in the dirt. He definitely looks like a better hitter than Bailey but hitting comes and goes. Defense usually doesn't. At least they're trying to do something.
