Best news all season.

I guess we can trade for picks now? This is phenomenal.

Crazy we received that much value, but baseball picks take forever to develop and maybe a change of pace will help Bailey. I hope he turns it around and figures out his issues. His first season I think he hit ok for the first half of the season, then there was a gradual decline.

The Giants have the #4 overall pick this year. MLB has a rule that teams can't pick in the top 6 in consecutive years if they're a large market team. That means the Giants can't pick any higher than 7th next season even if they finish dead last in all of baseball this year. It's supposed to keep teams from tanking.

What a dumb rule, that should be for all teams, not just big market clubs.

Small market teams can pick in the top 6 for 3 consecutive seasons. It has to do with the revenue sharing. The thought is that small market teams can't compete financially with the big market teams because they don't earn nearly as much from local broadcast deals. The Dodgers earn about $330 million per year from theirs. The Yankees are next at $150 million. The Giants earn about $92 million. Small market teams earn between $35 and $60 million.

I'm somewhat surprised only 48 percent of the overall revenue sharing is distributed from each team, yanks and the dodgers are losing money but still have more money then anybody else. If they truly want a fair league, it would be over 90%

Can the giants get a first round pick for chapman, that would be the next ideal move.

I remember seeing a year to year graph about how his hitting drastically declining as the season goes on, I get catcher is the most physically demanding but man it's not good, unfortunately where losing a great defensive and pitch framer

Cleve is banking on their coaching staff to fix his swings which might be possible, their coaching staff is better

The locl TV deals are viewed differently. There are loopholes which allows tems to keep a bigger part. The 485 is from perating revenue, concessons and national TV contracts. There's no doubt that the Yankees and Dodgers will continue toge tthise big local TV deals so they'll have the advantage over other teams. The Dodgers ownership group doesn't need to dig into their pockets to pay the plyers. On top of that their a really smart bunch. Look at the way they got creative when they negotiated the Ohtani deal.
I wish him the best. I hope they fix his swing and he's a star.

Let's go Susac!

Only 5 teams can actually offer the Giants a pick right after the 1st rd because its allowable to trade competitive balance picks. But most picks cannot be traded.

This team tanks year after year. Been a fan since I could pick up a ball. Candlestick veteran and the whole 9… Larry the abuser Baer needs to go.. this team is in bad shape. Back to cellar dwelling.. aww well at least we won't a few world series in my lifetime. It will be a while before that happens again. It's like the organization was bitten and infected by the shitshow bug. They can't seem to find the cure. Reorganization is the only hope.
