I love baseball but watching pitchers dominate game after game isn't exciting. How many times do we see games now where we get to the 5th inning or later with one or two runs scored. Maybe none at all. It's just too common now. It's easy to say hitters need to change their approach but that doesn't appear to be happening. Averages keep getting lower.

Aside from a spike in the steroid era, there is not a marked difference in runs scored over the course of a season. Sometimes it goes up a little, sometimes it goes down a little.

Not sure anyone on the Mariners throws a good splitter. Sliders, sinkers, and fastballs galore though. Blue Jays dismantled them in games 3 and 4 to the tune of 29 hits. Blue Jays are collectively a bunch talented and disciplined hitters and they're missing their best hitter in Bichette. And like clockwork, the Mariners navigate through a lot of danger throughout the game until the 8th when Raleigh ties it with a solo HR and then after a couple of walks and a hit batsmen, Geno launches a grand slam.

I saw Skubal pitch for the first time against the Mariners and his 1-2 punch of a fastball and change-up are ridiculous.

When I said that he wasn'rt dominant as a pitcher. No question he can hit. He's a good pitcher but a better hitter. I believe it was in response to someone saying he's the most dominant player ever. He's not the most dominant hitter or the most dominant pitcher. He just does both things which makes him the most unique player ever.

O.k., who here follows Vols' baseball closely and can give some Vitello 411?

What you actually said was that Ohtani isnt a dominant hitter or a dominant pitcher. You said he was "good" at both which is why he won the MVP. Seriously, this has to be the most ignorant post ever written. There is no player who is more impactful for a team than Ohtani. He is the greatest player to have ever played baseball because no other player has the ability to be a top 5 pitcher in the game, one of the top 2 hitters in the game, and steal 50 bases.
I like the fact that Posey is doing something different and not hiring a retread to manage the team.

Believe what you want. I still say calling anyone the greatest ever because he pitches and bats is silly. Judge is a better hitter right now. He hits for a higher average and has as much power of more. He plays good defense as well. There are better pitchers too. I stand by my statement that he's the most unique but not the greatest. At least wait until hus career is over before you hang that label on him.

Interesting that nobody was calling him that when he was on the Angels. Once he got to the Dodgers his batting numbers went up. It really helps when you're surrounded by players like they have on the Dodgers. Anyway, he's a great player. No question about that.

So let me get this right. You are saying that because Judge is a better hitter that means Ohtani isnt a dominant hitter? Let's look at his last 3 seasons totals:
Homeruns. Average 51 per year
Average. Average .302 per year
Rbi. Average 109 per year
Sbs. Average 33 per year
OPS. Average 1.039 per year

Simple question.... are these not dominant numbers to you? And...can the 2nd best hitter in baseball not be dominant or is that only reserved for the top guy.

You said his numbers were far better with the Dodgers because of the better lineup. Well, in 2023 with the Angels his OPS was 1.086 which was the highest of his career. He hit .304 with 44 homeruns. Guess he really didnt need Freddy Freeman or Mookie Betts to put up dominant MVP numbers.

Speaking of MVP, when he wins this year that will make it 4 in 5 years. Guess he sucked in 2022 when he only came in 2nd.

You should just stop because no person who knows anything about the game at all would be making your points. There is no human being that has ever put on a baseball uniform that can do what this man can do. To me, that makes him pretty f**king dominant.
