I wonder if the looming lockout after next season is going to affect the hiring?

Prob not gonna happen, optics and what not.

I have heard Mark DeRosas name thrown around. I wish he had hired Stephen Vogt.

I don't care who it is, I would to get Kevin Cash from Tampa

Kapler is s**t. I would they hire Sergio Romo than meathead Kapler.

As much as I agree with you that Kapler is not someone I want with this team, at this point its pretty indisputable that he did more for this team with less talent than Melvin did.

But with that said, I still dont want Kapler anywhere near this team.

ehhh I dont agree. He had one good year and the rest was s**t. Was his one good year that much different than the amazing start the giants had this year, coupled with their resurgence at the end to almost get back in it? I think you guys forget how stupid giants baseball was under him. His lineups were dumb, and his handling of the pitching staff was dumb. He didnt do anything with his mind...it was all analytics. Just hire an analytics guy instead. Auto lineup and subs.

Those s**t seasons were pretty on par with this past season, and Melvin was working with WAY more talent than Kapler was during those. That is all I am saying. I want nothing to do with Kapler moving forward. Just feel like Melvin had a team that should have been a playoff team this year, and we arent.

Agree. But IMO that has more to do with Melvin than any connection to Kapler. Melvin was a 3 time manager of the year. But he's also old as s**t and uninspiring now. He's not the same manager he was with the A's.

The only thing I will say is I dont think the giants have as much talent as some are saying. They got Devers way late, SP wasnt that great to start, and the bullpen ended up being crap after their incredible start. And RF and 2B are a big hole. Mix that in with Bailey not hitting until the last month and half and the giants were the slowest team in baseball and couldnt steal bags. This team wasn't loaded like the other big teams.

Thats what Ive been saying and said earlier in the year that Bochy wouldnt win with this roster either. I also dont believe their talent is anywhere near the best teams in the league or even the other wild card teams with the possible exception of the Reds. By the way, Bochy's last 3 seasons were 64-98, 73-89, and 77-85. Buster needs to greatly improve the roster and get a young energetic manager to run the ship.
If we do get Bochy, I want his bench coach to be the heir apparent and groomed to be the next guy.

I dont think that this team is loaded with talent like the best teams in the league. But we absolutely had enough talent to be a playoff team. The bullpen didnt fall apart until we started making trades. If we would have won 5 games during the stretch that we went 1-15, we make the playoffs.

I do believe this team makes the playoffs with Bochy, but I dont really care to bring him back. He is 70 years old. No shot he would be around for more than a season or two.

Kapler is a .500 guy too. 2021 was a total fluke because Posey was fresh, and Crawford, Belt, and a few others all had career years. You can definitely argue Melvin had better players, but neither could get the most from them. IMO the Giants roster has been mediocre for a very long time, and Bochy was just the only manager that could elevate the team to more than the sum of its parts.

I dont disagree with this. And yeah, I am very aware 2021 was a total fluke. Have been saying it ever since. I agree that neither manager could get the most out of their team. I just think Kapler is a .500 guy with a worse roster. I dont want either.

I rather they select the heir apparent now and let him grow.

Bochy had Timmy, Bum, Cain, a consistently good bullpen, and a tremendous leader in Buster Posey. Lets be real here. Melvin and Kapler didnt have the talent that Bochy had when the Giants won their titles. When Boch didnt have the talent the last 3 years his teams were failures. I love Bochy for the titles but I dont think he is the right guy at this point. Who is? I truly dont know but feel that Posey will do his due diligence and pick the right guy.
God Shohei should be a f**king Giant. Pisses me off.

I think people are done waiting on any kind of rebuild, I feel the upper management want playoffs or bust next year too

LOL. The Dodgers would never have let that happen. They have more resources than anyone and have shown they will do whatever is necessary to get the guys they want.
DeRosa, Skip or Hundley would be welcome additons.
