I tuned into last night's game just to see Eldridge and he wasn't in the lineup. This is exactly why I didn't want to see them bring him up. The sat him because there was a LH pitcher but he was facing them in AAA and doing fine. I just don't understand the logic behind bringing him up if you're going to platoon him at DH. They continue to cling to the idea that this team will somehow reach the playoffs and make a run. Not with this pitching staff. Especially the relief pitching.
He's 20 years old and needs all the reps he can get at first base if they ever want him to play that position. If they want him to be the every day DH then he needs to bat against LH pitching as well. This is why the Giants young players struggle to develop. They bring them up and thern platoon them. They pretend their competing for a title instead of letting the young guys play even if it means not finishing at .500 as if that's some great achievement.

They have to make believe they are competing until the last breath. The last six games are at Oracle. The ownership wants 180K in the stands, not 80K for the last 6 games. That is why you will never ever hear the words "full rebuild" associated with the Giants. This is a total taboo phrase here.

The larger issue in today's game is that managers refuse to let lefties hit lefties if there is another option. It drives me insane. Just the other day, Jung Hoo Lee sat against a lefty. Maybe I am just old school, but I will never be in favor of sitting a hitter because he bats the same side as the pitcher throws, in favor of a much lesser hitter who happens to hit the opposite side that the pitcher throws. In a lot of cases, the better hitter is just better.

I've alway felt that way. I understand the concept that it should be easier for a LH hitter to hit a RH pitcher but I've always wondered why the same isn't true for a RH hitter vs RH pitching. The answer is because they see more RH pitchers which makes sense so why not let a LH hitter bat against more LH pitchers. If he's a good hitter he's going to hit LH and RH pitching. Devers doesn't seem to have an issue. Bonds certainly didn't. I looked at Bryce's stats in SAC and he was batting .270 against LH pitchng and .255 against RH so it appears it doesn't bother him. Let him bat. Isn't that why they brought him up? Their playoff chances are nearly gone and I'm pretty sure there would still be plenty of fans there to see Eldridge bat.

Amazing, I could have bet anything they deliberately sabotaging Verlander if I didn't know better.
Of course I am joking, but how else can it be explained.

Lee with a master class in baserunning that inning. If he gets thrown out at 3rd that inning ends up way different.
