Nice aspirations but he has a long way to go before he can match those guys. Especially since his fielding and foot speed are below average and he'll never be considered a 4 or 5 tool player. He'sa a power hitter. Pure and simple. In this era if he can bat .250-.260 and hit 40-50 HRs a year then he'll be considered great.
Lol. Really? He has a long way to go before he can match Mays or Bonds? Who knew?

lol I thought the same when I read it. What did they want him to say...I hope to be a mid level player that underperforms.

If he can hit 20 HRs into McCovey Cove, he will be on the wall.
Is Adames still getting to 30?

Yah reporters always ask stupid questions. The one that I hate and it's always asked is after a big win the say "how do you feel" What a dumb question. I'd love to hear a player say how the F*** do you think I feel. I guess th reporters have to ask something but that one always makes me laugh.

On this team maybe if he can just hit consistently that will be enough.

To quote the great Gary Radnich. "He looks like something at the plate" He used to say that all the time about big guys like Bonds.

Miss gary
I heard something this morning on KNBR. Someone went back 500 games and looked at the Giants record. They were 50 and 50 over the last 100. 125-125 over the last 250 games. They were 250-250 over the last 500 games.

I guess this confirms what most of us know. The Giants are a.500 team.

But the most crucial and the saddest part to this data, is always giving the ownership and on down to manage payroll into the status quo-garbage out, garbage in. Fooling fans with the perception the .500 record doesn't need wholesale changes, it's on the cusp of advancing further with some new faces and supposedly revamped contender. Thus, renewed optimism for the following season. And while going through some pics and valleys throughout each year, somehow always ending at exactly the same place, .500 and out of the playoffs for the last 10 years, except miraculous 2021. And on to chew, spit, repeat.
I'll buy one more year of being fooled due to ownership opening up purse for Chapman / Adames / Devers in addition to Lee and is really curious to see if Posey is that much of the persuader, having such influence on the ownership group spending allowance. And if so, how is he going to spend it and what become of the team.
Bottom line for next year is twofold, period:
Recent winning streak hitting sustained over the majority of next year.
Significant pitching upgrade.

Oh and one more thing about this particular .500 team. They have lost probably around 15 games they had absolutely no business loosing whatsoever, or in the fashion they had lost them. I don't mind if they occasionally being shut out or score 1-2 runs and loose to the other contenders. Those teams also have pitching studs, or it wasn't their day hitting wise. But I am sorry, being swept not once, not twice in addition to the other games by the most dreaded teams in the league trotting out starters with ERA close to 6 and above and not being able to score more than 1 or 2 runs in losing close games, than winding up at .500 at the end of the season and missing the playoffs by a couple of games, is the most disgusting think I can think of.

Be interesting to see what Buster does in the offseason with Melvin.
