2026 San Francisco Giants Season Thread

Agreed. Picked up his first W, and against a very tough lineup.
Series w. We back?
Even in a blowout Walker can't help but give up runs.
Oh wow devers got some hits

trade finally paying off
Very un-Giants like series. Only one game decided by 1 run followed by a blowout loss and a blowout win. Devers and Lee struggle to hit in SF but go off in NY. Adames and Chapman were both cold in this series. 1-24 with 9 SOs and 5 walks (all by Chapman).

Power isn't a problem for him. Like so many young power hitters he needs to learn the strike zone and be more selective so he can cut down on the SOs. Making the adjustment to the majors is hard for most young hitters and even harder for tall ones. He's also spending a lot of time leqrning to play first base which takes time away from working on his hitting.

He's making good progress so hats off to him. He's still only 20 so let's not expect too much too soon. All the other prospects are 3 or 4 years older than him.

Yes regarding what you mention - of course with a young hitter like him. I reread what I wrote…really meant to say it's great seeing him use his power to all fields.

I'm as excited about him as I've been for any player in their system in years. However I've learned to keep thinj=gs in perspective after seeing so many guys that show power in the minors struggle when they move up. Making ther adjustment to the breaking pitches that they see in the majors is something that some never can do. Matt Williams had trouble when he was brought up. J R Phillips was a minor league terror but couldn't hit in the majors. Damon Minor who is 6'7" hit over 30 HRs twice in the minors but didn't make it in the majors.

I'm hoping Eldridge is able to make the adjustment but we won't know until he actually makes the jump and we see him at the MLB level. The PCL has alot of smaller ballparks with 2 of them at high altitude. The Rivercats last few games have been in ABQ which is about 5300 feet. Higherr than Coors Field. Las Vegas is hor and dry. Salt Lake City is 4200 feet. That's why the average ERA in the league is over 5. Lot's of good hitters parks. Look at Luciano. 20 Hrs. What did he do in SF.

Okay to be enthusiastic but be prepared for delays in his development.

A lot of people played with a nerf football in ther parking lots when tailgating.

For me the rest of the season is about seeing how they play out the string when their chances are slim. Will they fold or show heart? Will Matos or McCray step up and take the RF job? Will Whisenhunt show he can pitch at the MLB level? My guess is Posey is looking at the same things and more since he has to decide on the future of the manager and coaching staff.

I think McCray will improve as he looks more motivated. Matos doesn't move the needle right now.

Matos sent back down to AAA. Encarnacion activated.
