Considering the state of the Major League roster, the Giants better get a good long look at Marco Luciano in bigs before they trade him away. The fact that Farhan was going to do it just makes me trust him less.

one is an all-star and the other is an often injured top prospect. At that time Bailey wasn't up yet also. Context is key. Wouldn't have been a bad trade. Glad though we still have Marco.

Murphy wasn't an All-Star until this season. Hes a .250 hitting catcher with a little bit of power. Luciano has a massive ceiling. Trading that potential for a solid catcher would've been stupid. Never trade a guy with superstar traits unless you're getting a big time return. Imagine trading Luciano away and then watching him become elite for someone else. Bryan Reynolds is hard enough to watch.
trade would have made some sense if we signed Correa to that deal

Luciano hasn't done anything. I'd be okay if we traded him this offseason for a quality proven vet

It would have been a terrible trade. Come on! You dont give up your top prospect for a slightly better than average player who was not an All Star at the time and doesnt have close to the upside that Luriano does. The team had spent two 1st rd picks in catchers and needed to see if either or both panned out. Fortunately it seems like Bailey will be a very good player going forward.

He hasn't even played a full season. The only thing he's proven is he's injury-prone.
No doubt talented but I am selling if I am going to get good value in return.

You said a proven vet. Such as?

I mean, that is obviously the magic question. We don't give him away for nothing but it would have to be a good return. I am not going to speculate on what that would be because no one can really know.

Great question. Really interested in the answer.

Edit. LOL In other words, blah blah blah

Sidestepping my question. I don't care what players are available and what players aren't. I don't care if your answer isn't realistic to real possibilities.

I want to know what your definition of a "quality vet" is in relation to what you think we could get for Marco.

Its highly unlikely that another team would trade us someone who was actually worth losing Luciano for. The risk of losing a potential star player at age 22 with all those years of control isn't worth a Sean Murphy type player. Im annoyed at Farhan for even considering it.
lol apparently we're going to interview Alyssa Nakken for the manager job. The ultimate virtue signaling PR stunt. 🙄
