LOL one may also say a catcher who played in the Majors for 11 years, was the team captain for 11 years, and ran the pitching staff for 11 years with 3 WS titles seems a tad more qualified to manage than a coach with 4 years experience in an undefined role who hits infield practice with a fungo bat.

People interview for jobs they aren't qualified for all the time. They have employed Nakken for what, 3 or 4 years now? Shes in her early 30s and is still very young in terms of her career. If she provided no value and it was really a publicity stunt, she would have been long gone by now. I don't see anything wrong in giving people you like and want to invest in an opportunity to interview for jobs and learn.

That's called organizational development. It hurts no one and only benefits Nakken and potentially us in the long term. It allows her to see what she needs to work on to continue to advance her career. Whether she has a shot at landing the job is missing the point. They are simply following through. Is she a serious candidate for hire? Right now, likely no. But being so blatantly dismissive of it as a PR stunt is small-minded mentality.

The fact that you think my opinion is coming from a misogynistic viewpoint means you didn't really read anything I've said, which is on par with most of you awful takes in this thread. Her gender has nothing to do with it. Its all about experience and qualifications. Most guys put in 10-15 years in the minors to start getting recognized for these opportunities. The only shortcut is to have been a player who showcased an ability to run a Major League team during his playing years. Can you even tell me what Nakken's role is on the team?

I dont think Buster is a candidate, really. Obviously, he would be great but like will Clark, I think baseball is not more important than living his life, his family etc... I don't think he wants that grind anymore.
