Agree. He's a solid #3 SP.

That's actually a pretty good deal for the current market. Although pitchers are rarely worth longterm extensions.

Looking at Webb, the way he throws, he will be fine long term from a health perspective.

He isn't a #1. I could go #2 if it makes you feel better. He's a solid 31 and 22 with a 3.5 ERA.

Agreed. Solid
Good deal for Webb. Now we need an ace and another arm that is around the same #3 caliber as Webb.

The Giants likely had that offer on the table already, and his bad start prompted him to take it while it was still available. Not that he believes he is about to fall off a cliff, but just the uncertainty of being a pitcher and how your arm will hold up. Take the money before it disappears.

There are different levels of top tier SP. You don't have to be Max Scherzer to be considered a 1. Webb isn't a number 3 unless hes in a super rotation. In the last 2 seasons he has a 2.96 ERA as our 1 starter, and he was incredible in the postseason against our biggest rival, so we know he can be counted on in big pressure games. To call him a 3 because he started out with 3 bad starts this year is overly dramatic.

Yup. He's a borderline ace imo. Dude is 26. Could ace be in his future? you bet and on this current deal
Webb is a stud

Anyone who thinks otherwise is a dufus
