I better get an answer to each question
Back in the day the clubs used to have the power & if there was a fall out or the player wanted to leave & the club refused the player would have 2 options either accept & get his head down & work hard to get back into the team or he'd sit & rot in the reserves & train with them until the the club decided to sell.
As more money came into to football the players started having more control as they were comfortable with wages not to care if they were playing or not as they'd already had enough, & on top of that the players are worth much more they can't see the price of player go down so have to sell or they know they'll lose money.
The first player I remember going on strike was in 98/99 it's in those videos I posted the other day. A Dutch player called Pierre van hidonk he refused to come back & play for Nottingham forest & didn't come back until October, he played because they were in relegation trouble & actually scored in his first game back but none of the players celebrated with him. He eventually was sold after the season finished. For much less than he was worth at the start of the season just to get rid of him.
So nowadays the players have the power knowing the clubs won't want to risk losing value on the player. So the players always get their move in the end.
I do wish clubs would show some balls though & just flat out refuse players moves & tell them they're staying & if they don't like it they can train with the youth team & reserves for the remainder of their contract
