Main thing I can see from all this is that it will be even less likely we'll see stars from other codes move across to the NFL.

More I think about it, the more I think Hayne simply thought it wasn't worth the risk - which is pretty lame but understandable I guess. I don't think he had any idea of the consequences and just how tough it would be. After following the sport a lot closer last year, the injuries really shocked me. This is a sport that chews people up and spits them out - which is ok if you're a nobody with nothing to lose and everything to gain but why the hell would you risk it all if you're already a success somewhere else?

Kinda puts the argument of which is the tougher sport to rest - and no, I don't even think it's a contest. NFL is a sport entirely based on power and explosiveness... and that means a LOT of collateral damage. This is a game for young men, not veterans looking for a change of pace.

Kinda sucks because I enjoyed watching him play and having a more personal connection with a team, and I still think he took the easy option instead of just getting cut. But I'll stick around, I've gotten attached to this sport and this team... plus I have a lot of video conferences with guys in Seattle for work and yelling "Go Niners!" before we hangup is too good an opportunity to pass up.

Local radio has said Laurie Daley is hoping Hayne is elegible for State of Origin by aligning with Newtown club
Is it possible he can play for Fiji 7's in the Olympic's, whilst juggling the 3 State of Origin's before returning to the 49ers from their reserve list ?

Simple, it is too hard for a rookie to the sport to learn a new play book in the middle of the season.

Yeah we really will never know since he quit and no one who knows is telling us the full story.

He should have kept going until he was sacked or selected.

The way this has happened stinks of poor form and has opened him up to ridicule, particularly if he tried to come back to NFL.
