It is being reported on TV News in Australia that Hayne has not ruled out a return to NFL.

The question is, if he comes back then Where?

Jarryd Hayne officially goes on the reserve/retired list. The #49ers maintain his NFL rights. They have one vacancy on their 90-man roster.

If Hayne comes back he's still contractually obligated to play for the Niners unless they officially cut/release/trade him.

Thanks for the kind words mate. The Niners are my team, I'll be hanging around.
Apparently he's been declared by the world rugby something or another eligible for the Olympics. Read it over on Niners nation. He's not automatically on the Fijian team but the roadblock has been removed. Honestly I don't even see what the big fuss about all of it is a lot of posters have expressed on these message boards. Rugby hasn't been an Olympic sport since 1924 and this may be his best and only chance to win a gold medal. To be correct it's called rugby sevens which is the official Olympic event and Fiji is one of the favorite teams. He wants to play for his dad's home country so who really gives a crap.

Haynes biggest mistake was picking the niners, IMHO had he picked a legit nfl franchise he'd be a pro bowl caliber player.

yup. sadly for hayne, jed saw the dollar signs when he realized an entire continent would buy his jersey. Jumped on hayne before the hawks could nab him and actually let him contribute.

It was bad timing for him to come to the Niners when he did. It would have been better if he came when Harbough was on the rise.

The coaching last year was crap and no time for a project to be coming in trying to flourish in a dumpster fire of a franchise.

The reality is it will take a few more years for the 49ers to climb back up even with Chip and the new guard and Jeb is still here

How many jerseys did they actually sell over here? I've only ever seen one person wearing one in public and a few amongst the crowd at Parramatta Eels games on TV.

Haha, the Niners, on the back of the Hayne saga, have been my entry point to true interest in the NFL. Obviously early on interest was focused around Hayne but as last season wore on, I felt support for the team growing. It wasn't a concious decision, more something that just happened. I'm happy to run with it.
