Once it clicked for Jordan, he never lost again. There is NO comparison. If you saw Jordan play, you know. Kids today want LeBron to be as good as Jordan so they can say they saw someone just as special, but hes not.

If the Warriors win this Finals, LeBron will be 2-4 all-time in his NBA Finals appearances. Imagine Michael Jordan being 2-4 in the Finals... He was on another level as a competitor.

LeBron has just been trying to live up to Jordan his whole career from fan and media pressure, and he just isnt equipped to do it. He doesnt have that burning fire to win at all costs. He likes to assemble teams of guys hes friends with.

To me, Jordan and Bird were on their own seperate level when it came to competitive drive. A controlled rage that made them even MORE focused. Kobe was close, but never quite reached the same level. LeBron doesnt even have that DNA.

He might be the most gifted player in history, but as he displayed tonight, when the game is on the line, and hes taking the last shot, its 50/50 on whether its going in. With Jordan or Bird it was a LOCK. As Jordan was bringing the ball down the court to win the 1998 Finals, I already knew he was hitting the game winner.

I think you missed the part about Lebron is more Magic than MJ. And comparisons are silly.

If you want to compare:
Lebron and MJ are both great dunkers - have to give the edge to MJ obviously as his were more creative than explosive.
Lebron and MJ are both good shooters - have to give the edge to MJ because he was a better shooter and hit clutch shots.
Clutch gene - MJ and it isnt close.
Creativeness - MJ. People shouldnt even try to say sumpin.
Power - Lebron. He is bigger, stronger and faster, dominates his defenders. But MJ had much more touch so Lebron's shots dont fall like MJ's.
Passing - Lebron.
Defense - MJ. Both are good defenders, but MJ was a really good defender and people forget that.

MJ is the best player I have ever seen. I wasnt old enough to see Wilt and the older guys. MJ was an a*****e though, never cared for him. I dont think Bird is in this conversation. He was awesome though...but nobody says best ever when talking Bird. Kobe is in this conversation. So is Lebron.

I'm only comparing them because someone created this thread in order to do so. I've always felt LBJ was more Magic and now a little Pippen on defense than he was MJ. Kobe was MJ and they were both a$$holes but I loved it. I wanna see the wolf snarling during competition. Lebron getting compared to MJ because everyone is always seeking the new king and he happens to be the best right now and the self annointed king or maybe that's his momma fault by namesake

I agree but I don't think LeBron was faster than MJ. I'm pretty sure of that. MJ was both quicker and faster and had a much higher vertical. He was extremely powerful and explosive. This is the first thing Robert Horry and Shaq talk about. MJ looked fluid but he was built physical and possessed tremendous stamina. He was a real alpha. A dominant male league wide even amongst the big men. His arrogance was unsurpassed and that's just the way he was. His last two chips he was 34 and 35 playing through flu and 45 minutes per contest if that's what it took. He never went to game 7 in the Finals. He took series over if that's what it called for. I didn't have issue with the way he was because that's how all my uncles were. Doggish! You just know that he is on top and you gotta either knock him off or deal with it.

I will say Lebron is obviously bigger and stronger but faster? Quicker? Uh uh and MJ was a far more dominant low post player to boot. I think LeBron has MJ beat in defending 4 and 5 positions and being able to play 4 or 5 positions. MJ could play and defend the three smaller ones but LeBron might be able to play them all. If you think LeBron is faster than MJ you gotta see MJ on defense sniping out passes picking dudes pockets then streaking down court for the finish. Happened oftentimes multiple times per game and during playoff contests. Now MJ slowed as he got older but even at 34 35 he was still a freak

I still say Lebron has time even with a series loss here to catch MJ but he had to get a number two that can stay healthy like MJ had with Pip bad back and all at least Pip was there. I'm pulling for LeBron but not vs the Bay Area. Lebron is better this year than last and I think he is still ascending more intangibly than tangibly as a player
