I think he already knows boxing is real. MMA is very very real too, and let's not pretend that boxers don't grab and hug too.

Why do you think he thinks boxing is real? He's done nothing but criticize the sport that I know of and he is trying to walk into the ring and go toe to toe vs the best of this generation, completely bypassing all of the other top contenders which is blatant disrespect to them and the sport. He either truly believes he is that good or it's 100% about the pay and he is willing to embarrass himself to get the pay day he would never sniff just fighting in the UFC...which is it?

He started training boxing at 12, before he ever got into MMA. Not to mention he was sparring with a boxer last year, before this fight was made. He is far from stupid and he knows how good Floyd is and how real of a sport boxing is. He talks a lot of s**t and has thrown a ton of shade because he knows how to generate hype and buzz that will get people talking, and whether they love or hate him they talk about him and they watch his fights.

The fact that he has jumped a line of guys who are more deserving of a fight with Floyd speaks to his ability to sell a fight. Floyd chose to come out of retirement to fight a guy who has the potential to help him surpass the money made in the Pacquiao fight. The blatant disrespect to other boxers for being surpassed is not on Conor or even the UFC, blame this fights promoter for making this fight and Floyd for his willingness to come fight Conor and not a more deserving challenger.

I think Conor believes he can beat Floyd. I don't think he thinks he can or will outbox him but I think he believes he can catch him and KO him, and if he fails he has nothing to lose.

Good reply. I don't blame Floyd for fighting Conor, he has absolutely nothing else to prove to any boxer in the sport. He is head and shoulders above them all and proved it every single time he stepped into the ring. He is only coming out of retirement to get an easy pay day. Conor on the other hand has PLENTY to prove to every single boxer if he truly wants to show he can compete in that sport. He will be an easy out for Floyd and I expect a complete one-sided punishing by Floyd. Conor may believe he can beat Floyd, I'm sure most professional fighters believe "if I can only catch him one time, that's all I need". They are professionals for a reason. Fact is, they weren't/aren't able to catch him that one time, that's how great of defensive fighter Floyd is vs top talent Boxers (which Conor is nowhere close to that). If you step into the ring "hoping to catch him", you've already lost. Easiest money Floyd will ever make. The most money Conor will ever make but it will come at the price of getting embarrassed for 12 rounds, guaranteed.

maybe glory is referring to connors comment directed towards black women. I dont know dont care im enjoying all this ridiculousness.
Conor's got plenty to lose. Floyd can make him look like a clown out there. For 100 mil sign me up for that but it will be kind of embarrassing to be the highest regarded at your sport and be turned into a laughing stock for 12 rounds. I don't buy the oh he had the balls to try. To be exposed that you have no stand up skills would be embarrassing. Up until this point the only fighters who crossed over were old, out of shape of boxers looking for a quick payday. If he doesn't look respectable everything will still go on but McGregor is always going to have that asterisks about the time he got his face arranged to make the big bucks since UFC doesn't pay as well.

As far being a racist Conor is a trash talker. Some of that trash talk like calling Floyd boy, there's other incidents as well, has crossed the line.. He's said some things that would get you in a PR sensitivity class but I don't know if I'd call him racist because of that.

I don't blame either guy for wanting this fight because they know how much money they both stand to make. And I agree Floyd has nothing left to prove.

Conor has a chance to attack Floyd in a way no boxer has before, with a slick and different style of movement. The guy has always been obsessed with movement and has dabbled in Boxing, Kickboxing, Capoeira, Tae Kwon Do and Karate. If you have seen him fight in the octagon you then have seen that he has a different approach to stand up fighting with how he moves. Does not mean he will find success if he does use that approach but it is hard to prepare for something unconventional. He also shown to have a high fight IQ coupled with tremendous precision and timing but he is going to go up against a man who is the greatest defensive boxer, so he has an incredibly tall task.

I agree this is most likely going to end in a dominant win for Floyd.

Conor is an amateur boxer stepping out of his world and into a new one. And losing in a boxing ring does not affect his legacy in the MMA world. The stand up skills required in MMA are very different than those required for boxing. He has to train in multiple disciplines for MMA whereas boxers train the same discipline every day.

If he loses, it was expected.

It effects his fight career legacy. MMA hardcores will separate it I don't think the rest of the world will. You can't fight in front of millions of people and think the results don't matter. If he embarrasses himself he's going to be a punchline for awhile. He'll recover and have 100 mil to show for it, it won't tarnish MMA, but he's putting his image on the line here.
ESPN sports science had a piece the other day on how 10oz boxing gloves would affect Connor's power. It is only a -2% differential if he lands a punch. So I can f he lands a punch it will hurt Floyd but can he land? His punching speed is going to be diminished by the heavier gloves.

Then again Connor always boasts about precision and timing being greater than speed and power.

Wait, are you talking about boxing or UFC?

Have you ever seen a boxer get held and pinned up against the ropes for 3 minutes?

I've seen this up against the cage in MMA.

lol you're so stupid

You calling me stupid?

You the one with nothing to say after your comment is shredded LMAO

Nate Diaz would say Connor's power is just meh...

Did playing baseball affect Jordan's athletic career ?

It won't matter in the end. He lost to Diaz and the results didn't affect his ability to draw, in fact he drew bigger in the rematch. His image will be fine as he is an amateur fighting a pro in a sport that he has never competed in.

If Connor can't hit Nate Diaz, how is he going to hit Floyd Mayweather? LOL

The MJ comparision is not comparable in any way but I didn't say it would effect him as a draw. Even getting embarrassed by Floyd is still exposure. Big matches increase your prestige. But he will be laughed at for quite a bit and it when people discuss him they will mention that time he got clowned by Floyd if that's how the fight goes.
