Red Sox, Tigers, and Dodgers. 3 of the top 5 payrolls in MLB.

Enough said.

soooo....go cardinals?

Hell no. Best outcome would be a lockout/strike and a World Series cancellation.

You have the 2011 champions with the always annoying "best fans in baseball" BS rhetoric from the national media. No thanks.

You have the 2004 & 2007 champions where the fans cried like pathetic babies when they had a tough end of season loss and ONE bad season for the first time in decades in back-to-back seasons. Not to mention the Boston sports multi-championships since 2001.

You have the Dodgers who haven't won it all since 1988 but did so by humiliating the A's.

You have the Tigers that haven't won it all since 1984 that used their $$$ Hall-of-Famers to scrape by the A's in painful fashion for the 2nd straight year.

There's no one to root for there. Once my team is out I usually root for the team with the longest championship drought, but I just can't root for this Tigers team. And living in LA makes it hard to root for the Dodgers since it will make sports radio around here insufferable.

So.... I'm rooting for Boston for ONE reason only - to get Johnny Gomes a ring.

All great points.

The only reason I say the Cardinals is because I love that they didn't pay to keep Pujols, and that they are winning without his over-paid @$$.

I will be dead honest though. I won't watch another game of the post season.

I pray to GOD that something changes when Selig leaves MLB.

At least we have a movie starring Brad Pitt.

Yup. 2011 49ers and 2012 A's are easily the most fun I've had watching these two teams since the 1994 49ers when I was in high school, who were so dominant against everyone except the Cowboys that there was no real stress to the season except those games. Expectations are annoying for a sports fan.
Ya, I'm not watching another game this post season
Can't do it

And at least the final line about Beane trying to win that last game is true for another year!

Great point about the Pujols thing. I give them that. But three championships in 8 years is too many for a team I don't root for.

Preference of potential champions:

Boston (for Gomes)
Dodgers (long drought; even an NL championship will be their first in 25 years)
Cardinals (respected front office)
Tigers (please don't happen - I hate these guys)

I will check sports centers app to see scores, but from now on, its football and hockey season.

It is hard for me to not hate the Tigers more than any team in professional sports. They are a bunch of fat @$$es that rely on the long ball and good pitching out of Verlander and Scherzer. Once again, the A's should have beaten them in the series, but they get bailed out by a Cabrera home run and Verlander game 5. It's disgusting to watch. Jim Leyland has not had to do ANY managing with this team.

Yep. Time to focus on my Niners fully again, which I haven't done since the Super Bowl.

Time for the Niners and Sharks.

Can't say the same for the Suns (I moved to AZ and then began watching basketball)
Honestly even if we would have advanced we would have gotten worked by Boston. It'll be nice to see the Tigers get destroyed by Boston in 5 or 6 games.

Sonny Gray broke his thumb. He was done for the playoffs anyways.

A's fans tried everything to slow Verlander

Bartolo, Balfour, and Lowrie and free agents now

As well as Chris Young, Seth Smith. Moss is arb eligible

Bet next year our SS will be the worst player on our team

Well, one bright spot is Cespedes rebounding from his sophomore slump, putting up a good September and once again shining in the postseason. I expect +.900 OPS from him next season. Then there's Sonny Gray, poised to be our ace for years to come.

Baseball playoffs have always been a bit of a crapshoot. Any team can win a 5-game series, just by the nature of the game. What kills me is we lose them again and again and again and again and again.
