Feels good to be making this thread. I don't have the basketball time/energy that I used to, so I'm not gonna do a crazy long write up or anything. But I do expect either Baron Davis or Rashard Lewis to be Lakers at the beginning of the year, and I expect us to run the offense through the post a lot more than we have in years past. If we don't get Baron, I think Blake will start over Fish, who should have been put out to pasture long ago. Go Lakers!

Heard this on radio earlier thought it was funny...

Last season the NBA shortened the season to 66 games for the season.. this year the Lakers and Heat shortened it to 7

Still don't think you guys beat OKC. Nash is the key and I have a feeling Westbrook would put the clamps on him which makes your offense weaker since no Bynum.

Dwight Howard's personality in joining the Lakers will be an interesting development to monitor.

Howard is known for having a personality that often lacks the proper seriousness even during games.

Kevin Garnett often mocked Howard during games.

"Paint your face, clown!" yelled Garnett frequently.

"That will be an interesting dynamic," one ex-teammate of Howard told Yahoo! Sports on Friday. "Not even just with Kobe. I don't think [Steve] Nash and Pau [Gasol] will enjoy that at this point in their career."

He said there's no timetable. He'd love to play opening night, but he also said he won't rush it. He wants to be 100% when he returns. Not 80 or 90%, but 100%.

...and then Dwight Howard sets a screen for him.

The idea of PGs locking other PGs down in a league that's so pick & roll heavy is silly. It's a team defense thing. And even if Nash is having a bad game, whomever would we turn to for offense?

Speaking of team defense, my understanding is that the front office's biggest concern with this team was pick & roll defense. That's probably the area where Howard represents the biggest improvement over Bynum. Howard's either the best or 2nd best pick & roll big in the game (with LaMarcus Aldridge being the other), and Bynum's well below average in this respect.

When NBA analysts discussed the trade yesterday, they said the biggest improvement was defense. Howard is quicker and a better shot blocker. Now it's not as big of a deal if Westbrook, or others, slip past Nash.
