It's funny, in the oh-so-equitable and fair NFL, you still have 5-6 teams that are in the mix every year. Giants, Patriots, Steelers, Saints, Packers, and maybe the Eagles, etc. Single elimination vs. 7 game playoff series' gives the impression of a "level playing field" where there isn't one. If the NBA was single elimination, those scrappy upstarts from OKC would be your NBA champs...or would have lost to SA the round before.

Management is what really matters, regardless of the sport. It's why the Knicks or Clippers can never get off the ground, and why teams like OKC or SA do well, or why the same 5-6 teams are always contenders despite there being such a level playing field in the NFL.

It's funny, I've been listening to NBA talking heads all morning being very reserved in their analysis of this deal, saying that the Lakers are either not better than OKC, or it's a pick 'em series. I think they're severely underselling the quality of these upgrades. Not only do Dwight Howard, Steve Nash, & Antawn Jamison represent a significant talent upgrade over Andrew Bynum, Ramon Sessions, & Matt Barnes, but their skill sets are more complimentary as well.

May be true, and I agree with you FWIW, but I'm not going to gloat and carry on like they've done something when the season hasn't started. All that does is rile up the trolls and Reign ( ) and lower my cred. I'll wait until the trophy is being hoisted for that noise.

I'm not riled up, I'm excited. I doubt the Lakers can get through OKC and Miami but their homer fans are so excited. Will be fun to watch the fanbase crumble when they fail. Feels a lot like the Payton Malone year.
