^ Speaking of Kwame Brown, is the Butler for Brown trade the worst trade in Lakers history? I can't think of any other quite as bad.

I wanna say there was one in the late 70's that was worse, but I can't remember it off the top of my head. Honestly, I don't think Butler's all that good though.

Ya, and there's a pretty significant different between the quotes. One guy is saying that scoring 81 hasn't sunk in yet, and the others are talking about this being a testament to why they came together, after barely beating a non-playoff team at home.

“How to truly make players better, what that really means,” he said. “It’s not just passing to your guys and getting them shots. It’s not getting this or that many players into double figures. That’s bulls**t. That’s not how you win championships. You’ve got to change the culture of your team – that’s how you truly make guys better. In a way, you have to help them to get the same DNA that you have, the same focus you have, maybe even close to the same drive. That’s how you make guys better.

I’ve never understood this stuff, where a star player sits out and a team goes into the tank. Well, they need him because he makes them better. Well, if he’s making them better, they should be able to survive without him. That’s how you lead your guys. You’ve got to be able to make guys suffice on their own, without you. If you’re there all the time and they take you away, they shouldn’t need a respirator."

...don't see much difference. The level of emphasis and excitement Kobe was getting from a statistical achievement by beating a terrible team is similar to what these were feeling. One is an individual performance, one is a performance which involves 3 players.

Anyways, I've never been a person who runs with quotes. Also, not sure who you just quoted, but if it's Kobe - I kinda got a good laugh out of it. I remember Kobe wanting trade and better players around him just few years ago.

I don't know what to say then. They're talking about this being a testament to why they got together and how it's a testament to the history they were trying to create.

And your second paragraph is flat out silly. Kobe made Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, Luke Walton, Brian Cook, Chris Mihm, Devean George, etc. look like NBA players while they were in LA...when the were anything but elsewhere. He's talking about making those around you better, and what being a leader is all about. His only mention of stats is that they're bulls**t in a team context...when Miami's embracing them in a team context, hence the reason I posted it.

Him wanting to play with some level of talent around him that he wasn't artificially propping up is a separate issue. You completely missed the point.

I don't want to talk about Kobe to be honest, and it was my bad for bringing him in. I don't think as highly of him as a leader, and you do - and we can agree to disagree there. By the same account, I can say Wade and Lebron brought the best out of their team-mates in Miami and Cleveland.

Just watched the full quote of what Wade and Bosh said. When talking about this being a testament to why they came together - he also said in the same sentence that to continue to show that we're a team that can play together.

Bosh said right before the quote - "We're just trying to win, we're just trying to win games that's the bottom line, and the historic things that happen, we can take a sense of accomplishment but we have to keep working and just keep working towards our goal"

They look focused on winning a championship, to me.

So, does this mean they can stop playing at halftime?

Unfortunately there's high blowout potential, so Bron might not get his usual minutes, but after the "garage" incident this morning, he might be pissed enough to drop 30 by halftime.
Oh, tell me more about this "garage incident".

I heard about that...they did the right thing. I HOPE people start throwing drinks and food on the court and the game gets cancelled and moved to the last day of the season.

Short story shorter, LeBron's entourage was denied entrance into the arena for the shoot-around.

I don't know why he thought they will be allowed.
