Most people at the top of their profession have huge egos. I work in corporate America and I know a ton of people that fit that description.
For some reason I thought you worked for L.A. Times, or some other newspaper company :/
I know Hollywood49er works for the LA Times...maybe you were thinking of him.
Hopefully not as the fact checker...

Yeah, when they can do it against a team like Boston, Chicago, L.A. Lakers, San Antonio, or even Dallas, then I would be impressed
Barely beating a below average Rockets' team doesn't really show me anything.

The fact that it's been done only once before...shows how difficult that is. You don't need to do it against the top teams, that's impressive against any NBA team.

Good job, but I doubt the "Big 3" had numbers anywhere close to resembling this "dominance"

It's statistically impressive, no doubt, but the level of emphasis and excitement they get from a statistical achievement...in the process of squeaking out a victory against a non-playoff team at home...suggests that they're misguided.

Don't get me wrong what they did was not easy to do, and the fact that its only happened once before is something to be proud of.
It's just the comments that they are giving, it's like they put up this performance all the time. Wasn't this the same 3 guys crying and looking all depressed in the post game interviews a few weeks ago after another devestating loss?

this
For a team that had such a bad start having one of the best records in the league doesn't scream misguided. They are specifically answering to a specific question about the 30-10 and how it relates to history.
To me, those comments show me more focus to what they intend to do more than anything, which is to make history in every aspect and that includes the big things, championships and the small things, stats.

Were they the same 3 guys crying? I don't know, were they? Did we ever find out who was crying? So, when they are crying - they are weak. When they are overly happy - they are not focused?
I don't get it. This is getting silly. They said how they felt about their impressive stats. Just like Kobe did after he scored 81 - how he can't grasp what happened. I understand people hate Heat, but come on!!!

Ya, and there's a pretty significant different between the quotes. One guy is saying that scoring 81 hasn't sunk in yet, and the others are talking about this being a testament to why they came together, after barely beating a non-playoff team at home.
“How to truly make players better, what that really means,” he said. “It’s not just passing to your guys and getting them shots. It’s not getting this or that many players into double figures. That’s bulls**t. That’s not how you win championships. You’ve got to change the culture of your team – that’s how you truly make guys better. In a way, you have to help them to get the same DNA that you have, the same focus you have, maybe even close to the same drive. That’s how you make guys better.
I’ve never understood this stuff, where a star player sits out and a team goes into the tank. Well, they need him because he makes them better. Well, if he’s making them better, they should be able to survive without him. That’s how you lead your guys. You’ve got to be able to make guys suffice on their own, without you. If you’re there all the time and they take you away, they shouldn’t need a respirator."

...don't see much difference. The level of emphasis and excitement Kobe was getting from a statistical achievement by beating a terrible team is similar to what these were feeling. One is an individual performance, one is a performance which involves 3 players.
Anyways, I've never been a person who runs with quotes. Also, not sure who you just quoted, but if it's Kobe - I kinda got a good laugh out of it. I remember Kobe wanting trade and better players around him just few years ago.

I don't know what to say then. They're talking about this being a testament to why they got together and how it's a testament to the history they were trying to create.
And your second paragraph is flat out silly. Kobe made Smush Parker, Kwame Brown, Luke Walton, Brian Cook, Chris Mihm, Devean George, etc. look like NBA players while they were in LA...when the were anything but elsewhere. He's talking about making those around you better, and what being a leader is all about. His only mention of stats is that they're bulls**t in a team context...when Miami's embracing them in a team context, hence the reason I posted it.
Him wanting to play with some level of talent around him that he wasn't artificially propping up is a separate issue. You completely missed the point.
