I think some ppl are just over-reacting. I agree he could have handled it better, but he tried for 7 yrs. in Cleveland...look at what they surrounded him with?!? Kobe didn't win s**t after Shaq left - till they got a player like Gasol. We all know the fits Kobe threw every off-season in between. LeBron didn't handle this right, but he still handled it better than how Kobe during those years...and had Kobe been stuck in a s**t-hole place like Cleveland, he would have left a long time ago.
I'm not a huge Lebron fan, and I don't blame him for leaving at all. But he handled this horribly, he should have just done a quick interview like Wade and Bosh did, or even announced it all together.

I think it resembles this scenario: Your girlfriend of seven years says she has something to tell you so you go out to dinner, you eat, have dessert, then she tells you she's leaving you for the waiter.

It was just cold blooded lol, I wonder if anyone told him that wasn't a good idea.

If the Warriors lucked into Lebron James, I wouldn't be depressed at all if he left us after 7 years of terrible teammates

This is pretty much how i feel about it.

Agreed. Can you really hate the guy for going to the team where he thinks he can win best? Gimme a break. You're telling me you guys wouldn't go to a team most stacked to win a ring?!?!

Not when Im at talented as LeBron and have the opportunity to call myself the GOAT when my career is all said and done assuming I play it all right...he HAD a lot to win and a lot to lose pending how he played his future...I dont even think leaving Cleveland would have obliterated his legacy the way going to Miami has, it obviously would have been GREAT for his legacy to stay in Cleveland, but even a move to the Nets, Bulls, or Knicks would have been okh for his legacy...

But nope...now his legacy is beyond tarnished...its simply dead...

For the sake of argument, if he wins 7 championships... His legacy is still dead? I just don't see how it dies when he goes to a team and has the potential to win a bunch of championships. Jordan had good players with him, too. Pippen and Rodman? And now LBJ has Wade and Bosh? I dunno. I understand your assessment but at the same time agree with LBJ's move. He wants to win, period.

but Jordan didn't ditch the Bulls when he failed to win championships his first 6 or so years to team up with superstars in order to relieve the pressure from himself.

It's not just the fact he kept his decision secret for so long and had arranged this special and what not....it's what he has said during this special that makes him at worst a scumbag or at best the clumsy guy who blindly trusts a group of mindless amateur wannabe businessmen

Now how the hell are the Heat going to fill out thier roster they only have five players and can only sign players to mins

And oh yeah

Go Celtics

Signed

The Poster formerly known as Lundy

Umm... the Heat don't have to sign him.

Yea...I agree he should have thought better. He should have at least let the Cavs know that he is not coming back. But whatever, I'm glad he left Cleveland and didn't go to Nets or Knicks.

Well of course he won't be Jordan. You brought up the comparison, I was just playing it out.

if Lebron wants to win, he shouldn't disappear in the playoffs. His legacy will be that of a guy who can't win without an All-Star team around him.

C'mon...Jordan didn't leave because he was in CHICAGO. Playing for a big-market team makes a HUGE difference. LeBron realized this off-season (thru Bosh) - no one fukin' wants to play in Cleveland. This team can't really improve too much from what it is today...! He had no chance to win in Cleveland.

I actually thought Lebron should have gone to Chicago. They have a rising star and PG in Derrick Rose. They have a feisty center in Joakim Noah. He reminds me of Dennis Rodman. Boozer is a good low post player though he has injury history. And by signing with Miami, they won't have much $ to put together the rest of the team.

Noah reminds you of Rodman?

Yeah. Both are feisty, dive on the floor for the ball players. Very emotional. Their offense is really not the best part of their game, but Noah's is better than Rodman. Both are good defenders. Both just very unique individuals with definitely their own styles. Look at the suit Noah wore during the draft.

I see your point with some of the similar things they do, but Rodman was an entirely different monster. Rodman was Artest, more hardcore, before there was Artest. Noah doesn't have that level of crazy in him. Rodman was a friggin loose canon.
Can't wait for when espn does a 30 for 30 on this mess in 10 years.

traitor. his mission? what mission? stab cleveland on national television? thanks.

Quote:
He's as backstabbing, selfish, classless human being to go on primetime tv to say he's leaving cleveland. He's right up there with art modell. At least art went quietly. Hope he never ever comes back to this state again.

Quote:
Looks like he believes he cant win a championship without other superstars. I hope he never EVER wins a championship!!! ****.

Cause he is not a man, he choose the easier way to win, i hope he wins nothing, not even a MVP Title, he will never be like Jordan cause win Wade adn Bosh is easier, Kobe is the best

Anyone who is on Lebrons side is no Cavs fan. The man has lied to our faces and now we are a worldwide joke. More then ever before. I feel like I just caught my wife with my best friend and sister at the same time.

how you go on national tv and rip the hearts out of your home is beyond me. his ego is so big. rediculous. lost all respect. tore down my poster. throwing away his jersey. done

Quote:
hahaha he just said he's always going to look to his mother for guidance. A drug addict who spends special time with delonte and gets knocked up when she's 16. I hope LeBron never shows his face again in cleveland.

Quote:
Lord, I have three prayers.
1. World Peace
2. End to world hunger
3. That P.O.S. who just stabbed us in the back NEVER wins a championship.
Thank you.

Quote:
It's just amazing how much of an egomaniac this guy is. To backstab this city in the back like this is just beyond me. I live in Akron and if he thinks that he will still be loved here just because he grew up here, he has another thing coming. He knows just how much he has just devastated this city with his actions and how he's talking about his so called "loyalty". Go play second fiddle to DWade in Miami Lebron because Miami is Dwade's house, because he actually brought a title there. Your legacy is gone you piece of crap. Your last memory for clevelanders is you quitting on us in the playoffs and then tucking your tail and running away from a city, franchise, and especially an owner who gave you anything you ever wanted and would spend as much money possible to make you a champion. What a fing stab in the back. Dan Gilbert WILL build us another contender and I'll be glad you aren't a part of it lebron. F YOU LEBRON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quote:
Well, there's one thing that this signing changes for me.

GOOOOOOOO LAKERS!

Quote:
I've become a huge Kobe fan.

Go Lakers!

Quote:
If Lakers - Heat finals. I would actually root for the Lakers. Unbelievable.

Quote:
I never thought i will say this but.... Lets go Lakers

Quote:
lol, we all are Lakers Fans now lol.... The only hope left to defeat this team.

Quote:
Can't believe I'm saying it. But let's go Lakers!

Reaction from fans of other teams:

Quote:
Seriously, condolences from a Raps fan. Man I don't know what to say. Now the 3 biggest attention whores in the NBA can play together.

Quote:
Sorry from a Bucks fan. I really wanted him to stay in Cleveland and do the right thing by your town. Now he's just another douche leaving behind a small market team. I hope all the egos get in the way and the entire thing implodes.

Quote:
LakeShow fan here... sorry guys... but dont worry. Lakers got this covered!

Quote:
Sorry from O-town. We know what it's like to lose a big name like this. At least when shaq left us it was quick like a band-aid. How LBJ toyed with your emotions so he could stroke his own ego is despicable. Hopefully karma will do it's thing and he'll retire without a ring. Let the battle for Florida begin!

Quote:
From a diehard celtics fan i''ll miss watching our games against the cavs with lebron, now i just hope pat riley doesn't trade him to the lakers, when the heat dont win a championship!

Quote:
Sorry from a Bucks fan. I hope you guys have Duracell night when he comes back to town.

Quote:
At least we know what its like to hate LeBron now. No city hates him more than us now.

Quote:
Lebron is the biggest b*****d ever. There was no bigger douche move than to take an hour to announce he's leaving his hometown.

I'm enjoying the jersey burnings.

Quote:
Portland fan here.

I'm pretty stunned that he had the gall to make this whole charade and agree to go on national television to do this. And to say that he was going to take his talents to "South Beach"? How very teenager of him. He may not regret this for the next few years, but his image will be forever tarnished by this, and once his best years are behind him and especially after he retires, he may just question it.

Quote:
Karma will get him. He might win some championships, but he won't be remembered as a champion. You can count on that.

Quote:
LeMr.ITakeTheEasyWayOutBecauseIHaveBallsMadeOfCottonF'nCandy

Yeah, NY despises him like a mofo now. We can't stand softies.

Quote:
A textbook case of what not to do during free agency. Not only did he crush Ohio but NYC fans have to be pissed that he teased them and dropped multiple hints that he would go there for so long. He has probably made a lot of enemies in the media with this stunt.

Quote:
This is the biggest (bleep) move in NBA history. I hope Lebron, Wade, and Bosh all tear their acl's every year for the rest of their career. And I hope the Cavs win the NBA draft lottery next year or Chris Paul is traded there.

Quote:
Queen James will fit right in with the other phonies on South Beach...

Quote:
I gotta admit - I loved him squirming through the video of his jersey burning.

He immediately went into third-person mode and made zero sense.

Quote:
LeEgo. ESPN Special to take a dump on his "city" and his "people".

What an assbag. I dont encourage vandalizing his house. But I hope it ends up happening.

Quote:
Kobe Bryant's legacy just got closer to Michael Jordan

When Lebron was a rookie in 2003, he walked into a Caribou Coffee downtown. My sister was the barista there. He saw a big placard that said "LBJ", that was related to a presidential tribute the coffeehouse had up.

He said to my sister (Who knows jack and (bleep) about basketball. Literally.), "Hey, I see you have my name up there on that placard". My sister responded "Uh...what?"

Lebron: You know, LBJ. Lebron James. That's me.

My sister: Uh, no. That placard is for the president. Lyndon Baines Johnson. Who are you again?

Lebron (on his way out, without paying for his coffee): (bleep) you, you honky (bleep).

damn dude, how long did it take u to make this post?

There is no way an owner would say that, I'm sorry.

Plus no one in their right mind would say the Cav's without LeBron will win a championship before Wade, LeBron and Bosh... Unless you were poking some smot

read ads and negro's posts above yours

Wow... I lost a lot of respect for Lebron James for holding this pres conference but I lost a lot of respect for an owner of a team to call out James like that.. Its the owners fault that he and the GM didn't put a team around him that could win. James wants to win championships and if i were him, I would have left Cleveland too.

To promise your fans that this will not stop the team from winning is one thing, but to call James classless and narcissistic among other things is just as classes as what gilbert accused lebron of doing. Very unprofessional on Gilbert's part
