Bad sporting day for me :

- Warriors unveiling horrible home jerseys
- LA winning another championship
- Germany losing
- USA getting robbed of a dramatic comeback

From 2003 onwards sports has been s**tty for my teams. I'm surprised i still love sports this much even after 7 years of constant disappointment

You should know my theory : Bay Area sports has been cursed/jinxed since the Raiders returned in 1995...and no i dont count MLS or arena football

Besides for Manchester United its been horrible for 7 years.

49ers have been horrible
Besides for Bonds record, the Giants havent done much, especially the last few years.
Warriors
Sharks are maybe the biggest chokers in professional sports
Ireland havent been in a major competition (World Cups/ European Championships) since 2002, and obviously controversially losing in the qualifying for this world cup
USA had a poor 2006 world cup and this one isn't looking all that great so far.

f**king cursed!
You learn more about yourself when you lose, than when you win.

U.S. is still in this, and maybe because of the ref, less hated somewhat throughout the cup.

Yup, as I said in the US Squad thread, we're in the "win and in" stage, no ties allowed

Here are the scenarios for Group C:

No other option: US has to defeat Algeria!!!!!

If England wins today:

- US advances if England ties or beats Slovenia.
- If England loses to Slovenia, US advances over England

If England ties:

-US advances if England beats/ties Slovenia

That's an interesting thought TonyStark, we might get *GASP* sympathy from other countries for being robbed of a win.

maybe Slovenia is trying to pulla S Korea?

Goal Differential is the next Tie Breaker. I'm not sure after that, but I think it is most goals scored, then most goals allowed etc.

goal differential....then goals scored, I beleive

Just to clarify other's comments...

Assuming England wins today:

We know that the U.S. will have to win against Algeria. Otherwise the U.S. is out.

That would give them 5 points.

If there is a result in the England/Slovenia game, the U.S. will be in as the 2nd seed.

If the England/Slovenia game ends in a draw that will leave all three teams with 5 points. So, then it comes down to tie breakers. The tie breakers are total goal differential, then total goals scored. If the teams are STILL tied after these tie breakers (which is very possible since the U.S. earned a draw with each) it comes down to total goal differential between the teams involved, then total goals scored between the teams involved.

This means that basically we need an American win and (if England is going to win) for England to win by as little as possible. If Algeria somehow pulls out a draw or win against England, the U.S. is in with a win next week regardless of the other game.

I believe it goes to goals conceded differential

It has something to do with Englan's jersey, that has three lions in it. Don't know the reason, though.
