wow. the US came back to tie?!?! didn't think they would.

we scored a goal that would have made it 3-2 but David Stern has his refs working the world cup as well

yeah, that goal woulda been amazing. well it was.

I mean if anything...should have that been a foul on Slovenia for holding Bradley?!?!?! (I think it was Bradley)

that shoulda been a goal because Edu came from behind the defense to score. If Bradley was fouled on that play then the ref wouldnt have marked it if the linesman hadnt called offsides, he didnt mark the foul anyways either way. But usually refs dont call off the ball fouls inside the box, especially during a WC.

That's the key. OFF THE BALL. A lot of sh*t was going on, most of it Slovenians man-handling Americans, but it was all OFF THE BALL. There was no need for a call there. Edu ran unimpeded and finished. Goal.

even if its off the ball its still a foul. most refs just dont call it inside the box though.

Refs often make the call when there is pushing and shoving going on, this one makes ZERO sense. Slovenians man-handling Bradley and Altidore, Edu doesn't interfere with anyone and scores, no one offside. Perfect goal.

commentators were saying something during the match about having a special official placed specifically behind the net for such set pieces to watch/rule for such fouls. i believe they said it had already been tested in the Euro Championships and should be implemented in the WC...

yeah, in european competitions they have a ref behind the goals for this type of thng. Sepp Blatter did not want to do it for the WC and he said as long as he is President of FIFA technology will never be implented. DO NOT re-elect this guy in 2011.

im just saying, im not saying he should have called it, if anything the stupid ref and linesmen shoulda been paying attention to the types of offside calls they were gonna make.

I guess what I'm saying is, if you're GOING to call something on that, the most obvious call there BY FAR was that hold. Ack. Such weak sauce.

It's been used in the Europa League, never been used at the international level though.

Yes sir, I was agreeing with you.
Shouldn't have gone two down but it set itself up to finally be the game that brings soccer into American hearts. Horrible call, great game. US is still in it but damn, what a bitter-sweet second half.

f**king refs screwing over both my teams, USA and Ireland

We need to invade.

Yeah, the Ref was a H8R extreme, he had a good view, and could not see
all the holding. I'm not talking the general jersey grabbing type stuff. Check
your DVR, or wait for the replays on your favourite sport outlet.

I counted at least 3 serious wrap around (hug type) holds. The player guarding
Bradley, started as soon as the US team started their attack, through the entire
play. Might as well put a saddle on him and ride...

I agree...still, better than a 2-0 loss.

On another note...on this side of The Pond, SHOCKWAVES are being felt.
The mighty football power known as Germany, fell today to Serbia. I think
they were too hype from their first victory, took Serbia lightly, or, they
were reading too much of their Own Ink. Either way, makes me very happy.

I'm in Ireland

The Irish analysts after the game were hilarious.
Bad sporting day for me :

- Warriors unveiling horrible home jerseys
- LA winning another championship
- Germany losing
- USA getting robbed of a dramatic comeback
Wasn't Germany a man down for most of that match?

From 2003 onwards sports has been s**tty for my teams. I'm surprised i still love sports this much even after 7 years of constant disappointment
