Wait . . . do you guys want Mangino the Hut?

LOL, Mangino was actually the first guy I thought of when Leach got fired, but only because both were let go due to complaints filed by athletes.

I'd like to hear from any Tech fans - any interest in the Mangina? Or do you think his reputation for being a big meanie will scare off your AD?

I would also love to hear Crabtree talk about what happened to Leach...

If Tech can't handle an un-investigated claim by a single player, they wouldn't take Mangino.

There's a lot of comparisons between the two situations, but they are completely different. Until droves of former Tech athletes come forward about indiscretions by Leach, there is no comparison.

Very similar guys in that they don't really "play the game" of shmoozing the alumni and higher ups. Both from the Stoops tree, I'm guessing he doesn't teach that side of being a coach to these guys, and in college it's a huge part unfortunately.
Oh and as far as those recruits, I guarantee not one of them will come to Tech now, why would they?

Yep, say goodbye to all the good recruits.

It's actually amazing what Leach was able to do with the sub-par talent he had. I mean, obviously Tech was never a national championship contender, but they could at least compete with the best of 'em.

Oh well, those days are gone now.
I can't believe what happened. I am sure some up and coming coach will go to texas tech but they will not the be same after this. And as far as this james kid goes, who in their right mind would offer this kid to come play for them? This is insane.
So unbelievably pissed off right now.

Adam James needs to get the f**k out of town now and take Gerald Myers with you.

This blaming of James is really juvenille, now I feel bad for him as I'm sure everyone on campus wants to do him harm. He didn't do anything wrong, other than tell his father what happened. Look guys, TTU was just waiting for something, anything to give them a reason to fire Leach. Don't blame James, in the end, it's Leach's own stupidity/ ego that got him fired.
The situations are similar in that both Leach & Mangino went to weak programs and made them competitive. And then were fired for reasons that do not sit well with the majority of the fans. That's all I meant.

I'd welcome either Leach or Mangino with open arms if I were an AD somewhere. Okay, so Mangino's politically incorrect and Leach isn't going to stay quiet when he feels he's being wronged. Big deal. Both are still good coaches that win games.

But I recognize most AD's don't look at things that way.

Adam James is a man and should try to work out issues like a man instead of whining to his father.

Is making someone stand in a dark room really that bad? Aren't these supposed to be tough football players? There has been numerous emails in support of Leach and also calling Adam a lazy, entitled, prima donna that was known for being selfish and dogging it.

Here is a link to those emails http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/12720824/emails-dispute-james-claims-of-mistreatment

He wasn't locked up, Adam James chose to be a football player and he should accept the discipline as long as his long term health wasn't in danger which doctors have said it wasn't.

I guess we need to fire all of the coaches that make their players run till they puke too, isn't that the same thing? I am sure some members that are in the military or played football can think of lots of worse things that they went through as punishment instead of standing in a dark room.
A&M should fire Sherman and bring in the pirate.

Sorry, but you're wrong. I've been listening to sports talk all day and they've had numerous current and ex coaches and players and not one has defended Leach's actions. The only people defending him are TTU people. If the kid was as bad as some are making him out to be, he should haver been kicked off the team. And please don't compare football players to military members in any way, it's not at all the same. You should be angry at the coach for putting himself in this position, he made a very poor choice.
And yes, going to A&M would be the ultimate way to stick it to TTU, but his act would never fly at a military academy.

It's the way he was fired that irks me.

Maybe what James said was true, maybe it isn't. But do you think it's fair to fire a guy based on a single allegation, without investigation? And add to the fact that Leach has never had any allegations against him, and you can see that there's something strange going on here.

Take the allegation, perform the investigation, and THEN suspend or fire Leach based on the results. What Texas Tech did was ludicrous and unfair.

I agree, but since when have coaches been treated fairly and vice versa? A guy can be COY one year and fired the next, conversely the school can give them everything and they still leave the instant a better job is offered. Don't get it twisted, look at the timing, this has a lot to do with TTU not wanting to pay the man.

I completely agree with that. They were just waiting for any reason to fire him.

Exactly! They just found a way to get rid of a coach they don't like AND save $800,000.

I knew they would take Craig James' side, but I didn't think they would flat out lie.

Do you know that they were lying?

Do you know of any previous indiscretions by Leach?

I'm not a reporter, nor am I a fan of Texas Tech.

But ESPN is a news organization that faces civil liability for any lies it broadcasts.

Quotes coming from players currently on the team seems to be supporting Jones and not Leech.

classic. damn that was smart. if you can't go to a cozy classroom to study and have a 2.0GPA to participate for the team via the scholarship then you'll learn in cold while the rest of the team practice for the upcoming game. if that was to have happened to me my folks would have been out there giving the coach props. and the embrassment would eventually cause me to take shiite seriously.
