Who would've thunk even in the end of the 2nd week, the pitching would be the strength and the offense a huge liability for the most part.
Really the only game the pitching blew it was last SAT's game when the pen blew a 2 run lead heading into the 8th.
This potentially will be the 5th game so far this season where even any kind of productive offense would've won it.

Well this has been a waste of 2 hours of my life.
Games like these makes you want all the batters who were in the lineup to give back to the org or donate because they certainly didn't earn it by hitting like crap this entire game.

Maybe it's fate that both bay area baseball team's offense stink so it's payback from the baseball gods where both teams were huge players in the steroid's era.
You lead the way in cheating, your offense will stink for years now.

Offense really for all bay area sports teams is a joke other than the W's and that's a whole different scenario all together.
Fitting way to end the game right there.
Again, if the A's offense can't do jack in what looks to be a bandbox in the new NYY stadium, I'll start to get very worried.

The way the A's are hitting, well not hitting, dead last in many AL offensive categories, you could've put a AAA level SP out there and they would've gotten shut down.
Games like these past two where the pitching is giving you all you as a franchise can ask for and more against a good offensive team, look back at the end of the season and say those were the games that could cost you a serious shot of winning your division.

Just the A's luck they face the NYY's two best SPs in CC and Pettitte this next series as I see the match ups right now.
So the A's offense may not bust loose the next three games with the other NYY SP being Joba.
NYY, TB, TEX...the last three series this month. Thought .500 would be a good start to this opening month...well if the offense can't improve...then .500 is a pipe dream the rest of this month and the offenses the A's will face.
Pitching has been better than mostly everybody would've hoped for, but the offense has been a huge disappointment.

Maybe time to shake up the order Geren?? Last in every single offensive category in the AL, not to mention we've been shut out 3 times in 12 games.

How would you shake up the order.
Really nobody other than Cust has #s that make you think their ABs would improve if they were moved up or down in this lineup. I'd move Cust to the 2 spot, bump Cabrera to leadoff and move Sweeney down in the order.
That's the only drastic move I'd make.
Holliday and Giambi probably are the only legit 3-4-5 caliber hitters this lineup has other than Cust.
Everybody else, nobody I can see is hitting for much of anything right now, be it for AVG or power.

I dunno. Moving Cust up to 2nd seems obvious, and definitely drop Sweeney down the order. You could also consider switching around Giambi and Holliday while moving Suzuki up to 5.
I suppose there isn't much you can do.

I honestly don't know what to do with this offense... I think we are playing some tough teams early.. I honestly think well be ok but we won't see it until after the All Star break. I jus hope we keep Holliday

Cabrera
Cust
Holliday
Giambi
Chavez/Nomar
Sweeney
Ellis
Suzuki
Buck
...that's how I'd write up the lineup.

Cardenas in the AA game so far has another 2B, gives him 8 in the first week plus of the season and also in that game, Carter who has been struggling really bad hit his first HR.

Damn, KC blew it against TEX.
Every team in the AL West would've lost had that not happened.

Stat, 20 HRs were hit in the new NYY/CLE series at the new stadium with more than half going to RF.
Guess that's good news for this LH based lineup although the A's will be facing two LHSP to start the series.
You think the A's can double their HR output, 3, so far this season in the three game set MON-WED.
