Good read AB thanks.
So after all that if we wanted to get a proven veteran CB in FA what kind of money would we have to do that ?

I know the question was directed the AB, but I really don't see us making a play for a CB in FA. When you look at our team, the issue was having to start guys like Dontae Johnson, Dre Kirkpatrick, and Josh Norman. Then it took Ambry Thomas some time to get up to speed. Next year with a year under his belt, I expect bigger and better play. It seems risky, but I think they just bring in another day 2 and day 3 pick. I just don't see much money being available to get anyone impactful. If they managed to keep DJ Jones, Key, reduce Ebukam's cap number, Azeez, extend Bosa and Deebo, sign Tomlinson, and sign Mostert on a team friendly deal, I'd be totally satisfied. Not sure how that leaves any room for a veteran corner. I just think we need talent at a low cost. If we are going for a vet, I'd prefer someone who is going to cost money we don't have. If we aren't getting an impactful starter, why bother? The front 7 will have the multiple guys earning some serious dollars. We have to make up for it on the backend. Hopefully we draft well.

I have gone back and forth on spending on a vet CB. Probably the only scenario is if they cut Mosley loose and use that cap for any obvious upgrade. I know he played well, but he's not a top tier CB.

Reality is they probably stick with what they have and draft a rookie CB for depth.

Great stuff as always on our current roster, AB.

Hopefully they'll trim some fat and look to upgrade a few key starters.

Running it back for the 3rd time with a rookie QB, isn't exactly a recipe for reaching the ultimate goal...it's the definition of insanity.

The FO has built the deepest roster in football. But they are missing a few top end key playmakers at key positions if they ever want to get over the hump.

They may just run it back again and see how Trey does this year and then retool the roster next year when the cap is really expected to increase.

BTW: I absolutely love the timeline layout.

Mostert is a game changer but I can't see spending a lot If cap for home and I bet he wants last contract money. I think Wilson is ordinary and is only worth a min contract.

Thanks, AB.

Solid read as always, AB! Only thing is some punctuation, spelling, and grammar errors in there. Not trying to be THAT guy. Just giving you feedback

Give the guy a break.

I wonder who else is still around, who knows what the A and B stands for.

or Antonio Bryant who had a short stint lol. If a die hard fan like most of us, probably battle.

Thanks NC, as for the rookie QB, I mean the Chiefs did it with Mahomes, he helped them get deep in the playoffs, so you never know, Trey has a much stronger arm than Jimmy does, and he can actually run the ball, plus all the weapons around him, and a solid defense.

Anquan Boldin

AB initially stood for Arnaz Battle, I'm an Irish fan, so I loved the guy when he played QB, knew he wouldn't be great, so AB83 for Battle, then for AB81, it's Anquan Boldin, I loved that guy, did great for the 49ers.

Oh I'm fully expecting at minimum, the playoffs again. This team is too deep and talented and it's not a QB-centric offense. Totally agree with you. In fact, I actually think we could have a Superbowl roster in year 1 for Trey by simply adding a few key pieces. Truly.

I wanted to answer this so badly because I knew the answer already. Arnaz Battle baby!

Same here, I hope we do address the main issues, I expect playoffs again, I think Trey will be fine, he's gonna have a ton of weapons, Mitchell, Juice, Aiyuk, Deebo, Jennings, Kittle, plus he'll have the best LT in the NFL, and a very good defense.

Lol, yep ARNAZ BATTLE, he wasn't the best player, probably below average, but I loved him at Notre Dame, was super pumped when we drafted him, he did ok, but him as a returner, not sure what the staff at the time was thinking, I can't remember if it was Erickson or Nolan as HC. I know he was drafted in 2003, but I can't remember the coach, so long ago, I forget so much stuff it's not even funny lol.

Fo sho!

Then came Anquan Boldin so it was a natural change from 83 to 81. Loved it.

Indeed, I loved Boldin for the short time we had him, he had a 1000 yard season, I forget if he was the last WR to have a 1000 yard season before Deebo, I know Kittle did it twice, but I'm wondering WR wise.

I believe that is correct!

For whatever reason I always thought it was Antonio Bryant.
