Agree they should let it ride. $40m in space is plenty to do whatever you want. No need to restructure anything.

They'll probably spend half that then roll it over next season. It seems to be the theme.

FYI, OTC just updated their salary cap space projections, they must have added in projected adjustments, so they now have the 49ers at $42.95M under a $303.5M cap, that's 10th highest according to them.

Great work as always AB, thank you, what's the projected cost for our draft class, given that we're picking pretty low down at the moment?

Right now OTC has us at $10.592M for our 7 picks, which isn't bad.

Is it true that if JiAyir Brown is released they save $3 million?

Yes he should be gone
Where are we with our cap room at this point with the salary cap after Evans and the rest of our free agents have signed?

Considering his draft slot he has been disappointing. At this point, however, we have no one to replace him, nor do we have an immediate need to clear his cap space.

I've been watching Spotrac for available FA Safeties that might be an improvement. What we need is a better coverage Safety than Brown who is OK as a run defender. There are a number of Safeties still available but all lack coverage skills. An example is Jaquan Brisker of Chicago, He is currently listed as a $10million market value, and he is still available. However, he is WORSE than Brown in coverage. Would anyone want to pay that kind of money for someone worse in the skill set we need?

That is pretty much the picture with remaining FA Safeties. Maybe something may develop but it isn't obvious to me right now.

We won't know until all the details have emerged. That may occur anytime after today. (new league year begins)

Brown's cap hit won't change between now and at the tail end of pre-season. We don't need the money right now.

Might as well wait to see if costs go down with FA targets and see if we can address in the draft.

We also have a new DBs coach. He'll need time to look at the tape and understand if Brown can be productive in our scheme (current or evolved)

Thanks AB, so we are in pretty good shape? Could be in great shape by restructuring TW & Bosa?

Nice. I think we are in ok shape. At some point we'll see to pay the TW piper but could be worse.

Doesn't seem we have any $$ left over without those restructures but if they happen maybe we can grab bosa for a cheap-ish deal and go bpa with our picks

We'll be just fine going forward, we should end up carrying about between $15M-$20M depending on if they do redo Bosa & extend Trent, plus whatever they end up getting back from Aiyuk, and whatever their actual adjustments end up being, which I have projected at $13M, but they could get as much as $20M if they get back some from an injury insurance policy from Aiyuk how they're getting back $9M from Bosa's policy.

Yeah we'll be fine, I'm sure these 1yr deals have void years to maximize the cap savings, those 6(Evans, Toth, Pineiro, Dre, Tonges, & Hobbs) likely end up costing about $18M-$20M, but they'll end up taking up 6 spots on the top 51, so thats about $6.45M less, so like $13M that they'd actually count against the top 51, so that would leave $10.544M in cap room after all of the signings & trade, then they'll get back between $1.1M-$6.1M from Aiyuk release depending how his option bonus is counted, plus the potential $33.8m they can get back by redoing Bosa & extending Trent, that's $44.344M before whatever they end up getting back from Aiyuk, minus their draft class, which will be about $3.4M in top 51 cap room, so $40.944M, then potentially $8M-$10M on an EDGE, so $34.344M, take away $5M for their practice squad, another $5M for in season roster moves, that leaves $24.344M in potential carryover, before knowing what they get back from Aiyuk, also might be more if they get back more than $13M in adjustments/credits.

But yeah they would need to redo Bosa & extend Trent to have that potential $44.344M after the signings/trades, and $24.344M after the draft, an EDGE, and their PS & in season roster moves.
