You guys need to realize that only the 49ers first 2-3 picks will count against the cap in the offseason, it's when cut downs come is when all contracts count, so they have the full $31M to spend right now.

It's possible. And there's still other stuff they can do to make space.

Apparently the 49ers have $32,679,302 in cap room, likely pre Moseley deal. This is from the NFL's database that Field likely has access to.
A look at how much cap space each team, per the NFL's accounting. This reflects only moves that have been *officially* made.

Rookies drafted in day 3 doesn't really count against the cap as their salaries fall below the top 51. I don't think more than 6m will actually be allocated on rookies.
I even feel Dee Ford could be released in June 1 and you could still use the 30m available to sign plenty of FA who will be available, you'd get 15m more in June 2 to use troughout the season, or to extend Fred Warner. I even think you can use that June money to pay your top rookies.

Sure would be nice to see Dee Ford reduce his salary like Richburg did for the team

Agree, but I don't think it matters with the 30+ million in cap space.

We'd have 42.5 something million if he passes his physical. I still don't know how they got swindled by his agent.

??
They re-worked his deal to open short term cap space and push the hit to future years. Welp, now it's future years. This happens across the NFL every offseason. Just this time the Niners got burned by the injury.

They literally have no starting OL with 12 mil in space. That's just over what's needed to sign their draft class.
They drafted Niang in the 3rd last yr who they're high on reportedly. Tardif was their starting RG before he opted out, he should be back. Thornhill Is their starting FS.
like you said a lot of guys will take cheap deals this yr to play with a Super Bowl team.
if they want to sign Trent they absolutely can.
