So really if Trent stays true to his word, stays away from a rebuilding team, then the teams in the hunt look more like this.
Colts
Chargers
Cardinals
49ers
I also think Trent will be back, have been saying this since we traded for him last April, the 49ers did right by him, agreeing not to tag him, guaranteeing half his base salary, plus he loves Kyle's system, & the Shanahan's, he should be back, just hope we hear what the 2021 cap will be set at ASAP(LIKE YESTERDAY!!!!!), so we can see some deals get done, maybe Trent & Juice don't make it to free agency, would be awesome if we signed both before March 17th at 4PM EST when Free Agency begins.
I just heard that the Colts trade for Wentz. That's a big salary that may keep them out of the Trent Williams sweepstakes.
Yeah, Wentz will count $25.4M in 2021 for the Colts, if you subtract a players salary he'll replace on top 51, $660K, then it's $24.74M less cap room for the Colts, right now, according to OTC, they have $68,375,239 on a $180.5M cap, so they'd be at $43,635,239, but to be conservative, with the $180M minimum, they'd be at $43,135,239. Plus look at their Free Agents.
The bigger names.
WR T.Y. Hilton (He's likely the top priority for their own FAs, idk the rest of their WRs, so maybe they let him walk, and take a 3rd round comp pick in 2022)
EDGE Justin Houston (I can see the Colts trying to keep Houston)
EDGE Denico Autry (Same with Autry, Colts try to keep him)
CB Xavier Rhodes (They could want Rhodes back)
S Malik Hooker (Not really a big one, but former 1st rd pick)
S Tavon Wilson (Only played 21.2% of snaps)
CB T.J. Carrie (He played 38.4% of defensive snaps, not a big chunk)
TE Trey Burton (Only played 34.4% of offensive snaps)
RB Marlon Mack (Might be their 2nd biggest FA after Hilton)
TE Mo Alie-Cox (RFA, minimum of $2.133M to tender)
WR Zach Pascal (RFA, minimum of $2.133M to tender)
And don't forget LB Darius Leonard is in the final year of his rookie contract, he's going to command what Warner likely will, $18M a yr, $40M GTD, I can see Leonard & Warner's deals being very very close overall, different structure wise, and these 2 are the best 2 LBs in the game IMO. Plus Quenton Nelson, who they are rumored to be considering moving to LT will have his 5th yr option picked up for 2022, they could try to lock him up this offseason, front load the deal.
Other future Colts FAs in 2022 that will need new deals include, RT Braden Smith, RB Nyheim Hines, & RG Mark Glowinski.
So if you tender Mo Alie-Cox & Zach Pascal at the minimum of $2.133M, that's $4.266M, but take away two players making $660K, then it's really $2.946M, so they'd have $40,189,239, and that's before any extension for Leonard, re-signing Mack and/or Hilton. Plus the Colts aren't known for spending big money on outside FAs, something that people crucified Baalke for, but for some reason it's ok with GM Chris Ballard, I mean I hated Baalke's refusal to spend money, but it's just ridiculous that Ballard gets a pass because he drafted so well. And now Lynch will get crucified, by fans mostly, for not spending big money on outside FAs, yet he drafts just as well as Ballard does IMO.
