Don't get me wrong I'd love that money off the books, even healthy he probably isn't worth it with AA playing base downs.

It just might be a blessing in disguise if he fails his physical and restructures his deal.

If Dee Ford is willing to take a pay cut to $1m, I'm okay with keeping him.

I doubt Ford will accept that. If he can't pass a physical, the more likely scenario is an injury settlement and his retirement.
AB, it appears that Ford's April 1st guaranty is $11.6 million. Would it be possible for the team to negotiate an injury settlement with him for that amount and thus save $9 million on this year's cap? Or would an injury settlement have no impact on his dead money cap hit for this year?

The best scenario for the 49ers is a pay cut, if they did an injury settlement, they'd still incur his remaining prorated money, so again, same cap savings as if cut, only the settlement would include some money.
The Niners will release Dee Ford and Richburg prior to the official league's new year. They will be post June 1 cuts... meaning they won't pay the bonus on April 1 for Ford. I believe they will save 23.6 million on those two. Teams need to be under the cap on the day of the new league year, which the Niners are. They should be able to sign our own guys..... T. Williams, Juice, Varrett, K. Williams, and Hyder if he doesn't want to break the bank. I believe DJ Williams and Blair will come back on the cheap for 1 year deals for depth and prove it deals.

Uh, not how it works, 1. you can't cut a player and designate him a June 1 cut pre new league year, 2. if Dee can't pass a physical, he gets the $11.6M, 3. you don't get that money until June 2nd. Our best hope is Dee & Weston take pay cuts down to the league minimum, saves $20.825M combined.
Since we can't use that June 1 money on cutting Ford and Richburg to sign free agents in March April and May, could we agree with some free agents on principle and guarantee we are going to sign them once we get the savings from the post June 1 cuts?

Hopefully there will be enough solid free agents that are mid tier level in June like a starting corner or starting lineman bc these 2 contracts are really hurting us keep our free agents

AB, I'm sure you can cut him the day of the new league year designation post June1. I also understand if he can't pass a physical he gets some guaranteed dollars. Is he still hurt, have not heard about him in months. He just needs to go and we need some extra dollars for FA to sign players.

If he can't pass a physical, he'll get the entire $11.6M he's GTD for injury. Plus like I said you don't get the money until June 2nd, no FAs will wait till June 2nd to sign their contracts.
The cap may not dip as far as we expected, if the NFL can get their TV deals done before March, which they want to before setting the 2021 salary cap, it could help keep the cap as close to flat($198.2M) as possible. New TV deals reportedly holding up setting of the 2021 NFL salary cap - Behind the Steel Curtain

Let's hope the cap comes in around $195M, that would give the 49ers $14.5M more in cap room than I have projected, which is $18,336,419, so $32,836,419 would be the best case scenario, before anything happening with Jimmy, Dee, & Richburg.

That would be huge for the league as a whole, to huge to have happened by chance, had to be the plan all along. Let's hope it works out.

That's a very interesting article on a new huge t.v. deal that would help out the NFL with the salary cap. I know all these NFL free agents are wishing this actually happens.

Maybe John lynch know's that something like this new tv deal will happen because Tim Kawakami the editor-in-chief of the athletic was on knbr yesterday saying the niners are not worried about the salary cap and they will be just fine and they don't need to restructure and extend Jimmy G to create more cap space.
