The #Lions have released DT Levi Onwuzurike, their former 2nd-round pick out of Washington. pic.twitter.com/YwbpKFbKfk

It's unbelievable the assets we have dumped into the DT position and we all agree it's thin

One of the biggest mysteries of the 2026 season thus far is CJ West and his fall from grace. How a guy who's excelled at run defense his entire football career can become soooo bad in one offseason is baffling. From the preseason to week 1, he has been a straight up liability on the field in base. The guy is constantly getting blown off the ball and moved across multiple gaps.
I still believe in the guy because I know what he did in college and last season, but holy hell, it's not looking good right now.

Be shocked if McKinley Jackson isn't the route they go.

Yeah CJ was one of my favorite picks. Like him more then the Collins pick. Need him to get his sh*t together. Really tired of having so many 2nd year slumps.

We need a chunker. Remember in 2022 we found hasaan Ridgeway on the scrap heap? Nothing flash but I feel like that dude gave us like 15 nice snaps a game that were invaluable. If we can just keep teams at 2nd and 8 instead of 2nd and 5. Give our pass rushers/secondary a fighting chance. I think we've got a nice little set of interior pass rushers at dt, but we need that fat body who is going to make those 1st down runs a failure for the offense

I'm hoping we already have a replacement. Sebastian Valdez and James Thompson come to mind. I'm hoping these injuries uncover some hidden gems we have on the team like how the injuries uncovered Jake Tonges and Brock Purdy.

Parker Peterson is a brawler. Can handle double teams. Very good pad level. Plays better than his ability because of sound technique.
Solid backup, but not a glaring liability if he has to play. High level high school wrestler.
Panthers practice squad.
