Has raheem ever had a top 10 defense?

*EDIT in progress
Source I got these rankings from looks incorrect...manually checking

Defensive rankings per ESPN
2009 TB HC (27th YPG / 27th PPG)
2010 TB HC (17th YPG / 9th PPG)
2011 TB HC 31st (30th YPG / 32nd PPG)
2020 ATL DC 30th
2021 LAR DC 9th (SB winner)
2022 LAR DC 22nd
2023 LAR DC 18th
2024 ATL HC 19th
2025 ATL HC 13th

Just going off those numbers he appears to be a mid DC. Why so much praise and hype around him then?

His SB defense in 2021 was very good (2nd YPG / 3rd PPG for the playoffs)

He has a reputation as a good passing game defensive coordinator

He has never been given enough time to put his stamp on a team...he is always gone before a complete overhaul can be performed

I think he is meh to good but we will find out...this is probably the best collection of talent he has had for a while

As a defensive coach, he's (in my book) up there with Saleh and Demeco. Kyle just needs a good defensive coordinator to coach up the defensive side of the ball. Kyle's locked down the offensive side. Evidence is last year, the offense was still pretty good despite losing so many offensive starters. I truly believe that if Saleh/Demeco was coaching in the KC vs 49ers playoff games, Kyle would have gotten a win on the second of those games.

I'll add in the one main thing that gives me hope. Even though his defense ranks haven't been great, his defense has won a Super Bowl. With Saleh and Ryans their defenses have been ranked atleast top 5-10 and they have yet to have their defenses win it all. Obviously theres other factors to it as well, but thats one of the reasons why I have some hope for him to do well or well when it matters.

Whitner wants him to play as a Safety.

I agree with Whitner on this. In fact, I really think this is the plan for Prysock. We're pretty deep at CB already. But at S, specifically FS, is were we have a real need. We don't have a real true FS. Ji'Ayir Brown, Malik Mustapha, and Marques Sigle all do their best work in the box. Of those I think Mustapha is the best of the 3 and should be the starter there. He's by far the better tackler of the 3. Sigle has the range but seriously lacks the length and often takes horrible angles. Brown just don't look too comfortable playing the deep middle, at least not to me. So Prysock switching to FS and in direct competition with Sigle and Brown. This would be a great move.

Coverage wise I would be interested to see how he does at safety. In run support; Prysock is just not physical enough to play safety.

Is there any actual football reason people want him to move to FS other than we need a FS?

What in his film and/or physical profile says he would be effective at FS. Im really asking cuz I don't know.

Should've just drafted a Safety if that's the case!!!!! Jalon Kilgore a Jimmie Ward clone was right there for the taking!!! But oh well next years Safeties class is gonna be a tall one too.

Reports are he cant cover without being too handsy

He will draw PI flags in every play at CB like that

FS likely wouldn't be dealing with WR contact during the route...just at the catch point
I would switch him to FS and train him up there. He grabs too much in coverage and is pretty good in run support. I think he would be a better player facing the receivers instead of having to run with them.

Yeah dude is unreliable as a tackler and you can live with that sort of on the outside but at safety you can't have someone like him as your last line. Plus he doesn't fight to get off blocks. I wanna see my safety fighting like he can't breathe while he's being blocked. This dude gets blocked and sticks so he doesn't have to get involved in the tackle.
